Well you said he 'needs to put a lid on it'

He has done?

Maybe if we do manage to do what the club are still trying, and ship him off to Russia or Turkey despite having no replacement in (but apparently that's all because he wants to leave I suppose) then it'd come out in the wash.

Question. Why aren't the club doing more to ship 120k p/wk Gomes, 90-100k p/wk Delph, or 110k p/wk Tosun out of the club outside the UK transfer window? That'd free up a lot of money, wouldn't it.
It's a very fair question, except from Tosun. No one will be buying or loaning a player recovering from an ACL. Our best hope is he is fit by Christmas and we can loan him out for the last few months of his contract and save some sort of cash.

Kenny, Delph etc should all have been available for any offers on the table so that we avoid losing players for free. Kenny would have been 100% profit as an academy player, so it's poor business and squad planning.

What more can they do? The situation isn’t their high wages in isolation, is it? It’s that they’re exceptionally crap. How exactly do we go about flogging players who would not only be awful, but would cost a lot of money while doing it?

I'm amazed he's still at the club.

His wages are huge and turned a lot of clubs off him no doubt.

He is never playing for this manager, his work ethic is non existent especially for a manager who replies on team shape, and working hard.

What has he actually done since or before those 5 games in 2014, where everything he hit was a goal.

He's only shown his so called class consistently in the farmer's leagues of Portugal and France, never got those shouts this guy was world class, he flopped at both Real and Bayern, he's the Colombian version of Salvatore Schilacci or Roger Milla and he's dined on those 5 games in Brazil since.

Yes, I may well be wrong but I do not believe for one minute when he alleged fatigue/tiredness that it was true - have a look at his career, lots of great clubs but not very many minutes once managers work him out
I thought that until Colombia booted him for the tournament. That made me realise he really does have an issue.

The price of wages don't justify a player who plays 25 games max a season. Luxury player.

He's amazing though and I'd rather have that luxury than not. But that's the main reason he's not gone. Especially with cash strapped European clubs.

Muscle fatigue is common with sports. Tendon fatigue and cartilage fatigue too.

As I say, it was documented that he was playing through his injury last season (calf I think) as he was committed to trying to help the team. Even though not 100% he was still our most effective player.

I wouldn't single out any of our players in the way that you and others have in here, and especially not one of our best performers.

As I say, some of you are happy to ignore Doucoure being injured or Gbamin for two years but have it in for James. It's really weird.

Yes mate, a calf issue that was picked up by the Colombian medical team and the reason he struggled for us last season.

EDIT

James Rodriguez will play no part in this summer’s Copa America.

Colombia have said that Rodriguez, 29, is not at his “optimal level” and will not be included in their squad for the tournament.

Everton’s Rodriguez missed the final two matches of the season with a calf problem, an injury he has struggled with throughout the 2020-21 season.

What has been said?

A statement from the Colombian national team said: “The coaching staff of the Colombia Men's Senior Team reports that the player James Rodríguez has been called off for the games against Peru and Argentina for the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the CONMEBOL Copa América 2021.

“In recent days, the midfielder was subjected to medical examinations, which determined that he is not at the optimal level of competition, therefore, he will not be able to join the group called by Reinaldo Rueda for the aforementioned commitments and the South American championship.

“The coach and his team of collaborators regret not being able to count on James Rodríguez this time and hope that soon the midfielder will be able to be part of a call, representing our country with the height and professionalism as he has always done.”

This alone tells me you're a no nothing kopite.
