Benitez has a history of cold shoulder or freezeout antics with players, only to use them regularly as important members of the squad.

First of all it was a £20M fee; he left the club at the end of last season when the team still had a chance of European qualification to go home; he has no 'positive profile' for us - he uses his social media platform to tell his followers that he has no idea who the club that pays him a king's ransom play the following day.

You and others might want to brush all that under the carpet but most Evertonians dont.

As always, you're one of the only people I see pushing this 'anti-james' agenda.

If you're calling the James transfer 20 million (because you're adding his wages up)... Make sure you add the wages of every transfer fee you ever mention, to ensure it's fair.

James calf injury was a key factor in the team's decline last season. If he had not been carrying the injury we would have won the league.

Its the first thing you're taught in teacher training* - go into see a class for the first time, send someone out in the first five minutes. Doesn't matter what for, it just sets the tone and establishes you necessarily as top dog.

Then quickly identify the vocal ones (you can normally do this before even setting foot in the room) and put them in their place. The rest normally fall into order.

This is all Benitez is doing with James (and others in the past) . So do many other managers. Its not sophisticated its basic psychological manipulation to show dominance over a group. Hapoens in the workplace too. I had a headteacher who routinely did this to every male member of staff who had any opinion or popularity. He ent further as he would only promote weak female characters to senior positions - so they just went along with his insane ideas.

* at least it was in my day. I suspect some cryarse do-gooders have outlawed this now because of the psychological trauma caused to Johnny Snotpants by being singled out and told off.

At the moment, his agent is currently busy negotiating his weekly wage incease.

As it stands he`s on 250K a week and his agent is holding out for another weekly rise of 50k.

The club are currently doing an inventory, of how many staff still have healthy kidneys left to sell, before they agree to his demands.
