According to his fan club he isn't... but even if he is which I suspect is the case if he was such a great player that surely wouldn't bother teams no? Ronaldo is on 480k at Utd and Messi is on more at PSG.

People confuse being a talented player with being a great one. If he was such a great player then he would be playing for both midtable Everton and Colombia but he's playing for neither at present.
Et voilà
FB92 ends the discussion.

I wasn’t specifically talking about you but read the thread it’s all “look at him on holiday “ , “he doesn’t care “ ,” he’s a bad apple “ ,“he’s on £400k a week “ blah blah it’s ridiculous.

I think we both know the manager doesn’t fancy him , intensity is probably part of it but also he’s just not having him . It happens in football I get that , with a squad like I ours I personally think it’s a bit stupid and a risk because if we lose 1-0 to Burnley he can’t really moan about the lack of creativity in the final third but he’s backing himself so that’s that .

I understand him not picking him and I understand your point but I’m not having people tell me he’s crap because I’ve watched footy for a long time and when he played well , I accept the when caveat , it was a pleasure a genuine pleasure .
Benitez couldn't stand Gerrard either. But he did play him. He was a decent midfielder with no discipline

Because he's on ridiculous wages and not getting any younger. We've got him now, he's under contract, lets play him
Nail on Head, Carlo signed a big name - who on is rare day is magnificent - some games you don't know if he is on the pitch -
His national team sent him packing unfit - his wages are far too high... no one wanted to sign him ...

However, it's up to him to get fit & get back in the squad ..... he is still an EFC player so if fit we can use him ....

Rodriguez and similar hangers on would not get away with it had we not been forced to do away with the reserve team league. They would be forced to play every week and perform to their best ability in order to be promoted to the first team squad. Now they hide away spending their unearned fortunes.

I think in a funny way this challenge at Everton is good for his career. Like Ozil, very few teams can accommodate him with his current approach, but if he adapts and learns to play for different styles of team - even in Spain, Italy or Portugal he won't be able to avoid tracking back etc - he could have another good 3-4 years in his career in Europe. Hope he does well because it would be fun to watch him at his best again.

Its certainly good for his Bank balance - Carlo has landed us in the manure here.....

Just about all players at the highest level can produce brilliant moments in short periods, but the very best players usually do so consistently over time.

There is no doubt that JR is more talented and has had a more successful career than Osman, but there is also no doubt that Osman has meant more to Everton than what JR will ever do for Everton. Osman has had seasons at Everton where he has performed far better than what JR did for us last year. If you look at clips from Osman's career, you will see many brilliant passes, and some absolutely fantastic goals for Everton.

My point is not that Osman was a world-class player, but that some on this forum exaggerate the importance of JR, and are very easily impressed by some passes - which are actually quite basic for professional football players - and lose all proportions in their cultivation of JR.
I'm not dissing Osman when I say this. I think he was a very good servant to the club. But there wasn't a single year he came even close to what James did last season . He scored some fine and important goals over his career though.

Hi mate, I think you might need to reboot. ?

Thanks, mate, I get it some of you have never seen James play, or have seen how good he is and want him out of Everton, or want to use him as a target for group 3's. I have seen how good James is with my own eyes and it is my duty as a true blue to not ignore this. Your group 1/2 approach is so obvious you may as well be walking with a sign with an arrow point at your head shouting '"look at me, I'm obvious." ?
If he works as hard in training as you do trying to be funny he'll be back in the team in no time! Unless he displays the same quality.

Ok, here we disagree. First, JR did not have a particularly good season last year. He had some periods, but did not perform well over a season. Consistency is the key.

I think you mix this with the talent or the potential. For I do not disagree that JR earlier in his career has shown extraordinary qualities, and at times did for us last season, but it is a very long time since he has performed at a high level over time. That's a fact.

Of course, Osman did not have the same potential, but he performed at a higher consistent level over time (at Everton). He rarely stole the headlines - even though he had some fantastic goals - but for the most part the managers could trust him to do the job.
