Well all summer we let Benitez bring in exactly who he wanted.

Even down to not getting a back up forward in right until the last minute, and that back up forward happening to be somebody who is 32, has played in China/Russia for the last two years, and last kicked a ball in May.

There's no structure. It's give it to the manager and let him have control. Benitez even turned down the right-back options Brands came up with. So genuinely, what's the point?

Gray is fast becoming a great investment.
We all want to move forward, but James was never the answer, nor is splashing half a billion on average players...

I said at the time that Gray was a good signing. He's young, quick, wants to improve. Exactly what we needed to add to the squad.

I like Townsend. He's not brilliant but he'll always work hard and has that odd moment of quality in him, absolutely. On a free, fair enough.

But then look at how average they all looked yesterday.

I'm sorry. We're 4 weeks into the season and for the foreseeable, this is our front four

Iwobi, Gray, Townsend, Rondon.

Add into that we're trying to get rid of a player we can't replace at all for at least three months.

It's not good enough.

I'm well aware we are crap lol

But we were crap last year too with him in our squad. The idea he is one of our best players of the PL era is just nonsense. One of the most talented of course, but not even in the top 50 for contribution.

Our front 4 yesterday looks a lot better with our 2 top strikers. We are decimated by injuries and thats a recruitment issue.

Richarlison and DCL are crucial players missing yet people are more concerned about James. I just dont get it.

One of whom has been playing with a broken toe for 3 weeks and then we've run him into the ground and he's now out for the next 3-4 games, and the other who has played 63 games in the last 15 months for club and country and is now injured for 3-4 games.

Yeah, I'm concerned about Everton weakening their squad even further when we're so light and have no way of bringing anybody else in.

My point is any team outside of United and City struggles missing those 2 strikers. Teams with much more depth than us would struggle losing those 2. They are pivotal players.

Yeah and they'll be out for the majority of the next month.

I have been happy with the wins. I've not been happy with the general level of performances, Brighton and Leeds aside which I've said many times were good performances.

We were crap for the first half v S'ton, crap for an hour v Burnley and crap yesterday, and really, really crap against Huddersfield.

I'm happy with how we've started the season but there's no 'progress' that I can see. Just players running about. And as we saw yesterday, players running about doesn't mean you do well.

We all know what we are - a good 11 with an average squad.

Thats ultimately down to Walsh + Brands wasting money on trash.

Its taking time but we are slowly getting there but its not a quick fix overnight and people need to stop expecting it.

Richarlison, DCL, Gray, Doucoure, Godfrey, Pickford a good crop in terms of age to add players to with commited older heads like Townsend & Allan added to the squad over the last 12 months.

How can you say this with such certainty?

We've played 2 of the weaker sides in the league. Done well v Brighton and Leeds, and then got soundly beaten by the best team we've faced.

Sure, let's say injuries, but we all laughed at the Kopites for doing just that last season.

I'm all for transforming the squad and if JR leaving is part of that it's fine. It's not fine when it weakens an already light squad though, with no way of getting anyone else in.
