The fact he's gone to Qatar despite having so much quality says two things;

He's retiring early, not arsed about his career.
No proper clubs wanted him or could afford his wages.

Potentially a third.. wants to make sure hes used to their climate for if Colombia qualify for the world cup he can say hes ready.

Great player but not in the manager's plans. At least he wants to play and not just sit back and do nothing.

Shame really but £200k a week is a lot of cash saved so hopefully we can use this in January

Or, nowhere else can sign him due to windows being shut, his national manager has told him he needs minutes, and that's now his only option as benitez has told him he won't play regardless of our lack of players.

He's been free to go all summer and he's been wanting out since Ancelotti went. Clear as day he only joined because of Carlo and he said that himself.... Nobody wanted him or his wages. Simple as that. He's given up on playing at a high level. He can play half-arsed in Qatar and still stand out.

Any respectable person with ambition stays at the higher levels. Not going to play in a dreadful league such as Qatar. Believe me I've watched enough of it due to my gambling addiction and it is dreadful.

Past behaviour is the best indicator for future behaviour.

He froze him out at 2 clubs, he's not going to play him here so the club and the player have no choice.

We are reportedly paying some of his wages for the remaider of the season do its costing the club to facilitate this.

Doesnt mean he is a good or bad player - it just means that it is Benitez driving this - if you dont/cant/wont see that then good luck to you.

You haven't supplied any evidence that it's Benitez (100% you said). Are you confident that James was fully committed to us before the new manager came in?

Who fetched him here? Not RB - many pundits predicted he was a showman, his own Club Country sent him packing FGS - we could not give him away till now - I admit I enjoyed his early games he looked pure class - then it just went .....

Course he wasn't. It was for a manager that hates him and only picked him to play pre season because the club was using him as poster boy for the tour to make money off him. He knew benitez was never going to play him, so why would he be interested?

Guessing you don't like benitez either then.

He hasn't been free to go all summer though, the club needed him as poster boy for their Florida Cup and used him to make money. He has trained, made himself available, even on sat when he wasn't picked he was at Finch Farm training and going to support the kids teams. No idea what happened with other clubs in Europe but we know the climate isn't great in terms of finances and we don't know why moves didn't go ahead other than rumours.
