…I think Rodriguez is the highest profile and undoubtedly a great talent but there are more effective players even at our club. He is a joy to watch, though.

Not sure on that mate.

His PL stats last season:
Appearances 23
Minutes played 1775
Goals 6 (3 with left foot, 3 with right foot)
Assists 4
11 "big chances" created

At roughly 1 goal involvement every 2 games he was statistically probably our most effective player last season

Think the thing is you should apply his output / contribution over the total number of games not just the ones he was available for, or worst case the statistical average number most players played.
Ie if he’s only played 2/3 of the games his stats would read more like 1 goal involvement every 3 games which might not look quite as stand out as some others who are available more often.
Point being I don’t think anyone doubts that on his day he is the most talented player we have, but over the course of a season does he contribute enough, or significantly more than his peers who cost the club dramatically less…
Personally wish we had the squad to facilitate a player of his type, but right now I don’t think we do
(Cba doing the numbers myself like)

Right player just the wrong time for us unfortunately,I know City have an embarrassment of riches but to me he could do a job for them even in a "bit part" role, look at today,15/20 minutes to go they need a little extra magic or spark, coming off the bench he would be ideal,£50 million he's yours Pep ;) lol

….it says lots about his quality, it truly does. He can do things other professionals can’t do but effectiveness is also about what you do when not in possession, it’s about wanting to play & being available.

if you asked every top club in the game which Everton player they wanted, I don’t think Rodriguez would top the wish list.

…look at City today, I suggest Digne is better than they have, DCL would give them something different and is Grealish truly more effective than Richarlison? It’s a moot point but I’m not convinced he is. Ridriguez would be great at that level.

If we are going to play 442, I'm not sure where he plays. That means he would be an impact type player, but I don't know if we can justify keeping him for that.

I think we need to make a decision on him this week. There is no point delaying it.

In an ideal world we fit him in around better players but there aren't any easy answers here with this squad. It's like we aren't good enough to get the best out him.

Ideally, there are other ways to save on wages than letting him go, but let's see what happens. I expect him to be elsewhere by Sepetember, and that's ok if we actually strengthen key positions like right back.

Off the striker.

Gray started the first half there before swapping with Richy in the 2nd.

No reason why that couldn't happen.

Won't like.

Fair enough mate. I'd say he's the most effective player we have (when on the pitch) but certainly not the most available, and probably not the most dedicated.

I think he's a really good asset to us though (both on and off the pitch) and for that reason I'd like him to stay. We don't really have any other creative midfielders so I think creativity would be a serious issue for us this season if he leaves. He also seems to get on with the rest of the squad.
