Confirmed Signing James Tarkowski

Another player from a relegated club. These teams are relegated for a reason. Cause their players aren't good enough. How many players have we signed from relegated teams, or players that couldn't get into the first team and that was for a reason. Either they where always injured or not good enough and guess what, we nearly got relegated.

Burnley had a good defence under dyche when we signed Michael Keane. but they didnt score many then. Why do you think that was?
Exactly, they specialise in defenders who sit deep to make defending easier, it makes their defenders look good and their midfield look bad, a model we have been increasingly edging towards, a style that has taken us to the brink and them to the championship.

Must say I’m enjoying seeing people go mad about a partnership with him and Keane as if they literally weren’t a great partnership that made Burnley horrible to play against. Even funnier the people talking about Burnley going down this season and it being on him despite them having a much better defensive record than us.

They went down because they have mostly a team of players with very little football in them, he’s a part of that problem just as Keane is here.

We can’t string 3 passes together and we’re looking to Burnley to solve this.

It’s like eating chocolate to cure obesity.

Only worry is the system he plays in possibly makes him look better than what he is. Burnleys style is very specific, is he a good defender if you take him out of that system and put him in a more expansive team?

We got stung with Keane in the same scenario

But on a free, he's cheaper and more reliable than Mina so we would be saving money by signing him and selling Yerry

You don’t need ball playing centre backs.

Our biggest issue is a defence that can’t defend consistently.

I’m not being funny but we’re in the position we are for a reason, these players won’t magically turn good over night. Whatever you think of him he comes in and he’s immediately our best defender.

This isn’t like getting Ashley Williams, because we were a semi decent team then, we barely survived relegation and we were in that situation in large part because of an awful defence in many ways.

This is the exact type of player we need right now, we can get all the ball players a few years from now when we’re hopefully in a much better position but I’d rather a good defender who just lumps it like Tarkowski rather than a defender that can pass but can’t bloody defend like what we’ve got now.

Is that the aim then? To be like burnley? To surrender the midfield and camp them in front of them two.
Wow. Living the dream there.
Can i ask you what you feel about michael keane when he gets exposed at Everton when he has to do the basics of defending?

If signed there is a possibility we could have a starting 11 and 6 of them could have all come from relegated teams from this league.

Burnley have been in Europe more recently than us. I’m not saying I want to be them but Christ on a bike do I not want to be us having a squad full of defenders that can’t defend.

Just because he comes from the same club as keane doesn't make him the same player .
Its a lazy comparison

That could be true but he's come from a club that thats been their DNA of football and we got our fingers well and truely burnt with buying from that.
Irony is if we sold keane to fund his wages.

I have the same question. What happens as soon as we ask him to set his line more than 5 steps from his own penalty area?

Don’t want to upset you mate but they played together in defence for 4 matches.
