A no brainer for me, it wasn't long ago west ham bid 31million. Every time we play them he has impressed me, he is reliable, a leader and a lot better than Keane and Holgate.

Signings players like DVB & Ali are always vanity signings, for where we are currently this is exactly what we need.

Also having him on our team will avoid the leg breakers he throws in on our players...

Hang on, forgot about training

I read about the £85k but not the 3 year deal. Due to his age id expect him to push for 5 years.

3 years is a deal id not thought possible.

I'm generally intrigued by the notion that zat wants Everton to sign him opposed to the usual 20 year prospects so on that point im sold on james

He reminds me of some defenders weve had on the pitch, like Watson, Unsworth, Weir, Stubbs etc.

Players who werent particularly known for their technical ability but applauded for their positioning, organising, physicality and of course mentality.

In my opinion you always want/need a player like this in central defence alongside perhaps technically superior or quicker players.

Based on this, he walks into the team and should bring the best out of Godfrey. Also I can see Branthwaite learning alot from him.

The fact that hes free means we can sell Mina and Keane and use the funds elsewhere so its also sensible from a cost perspective.

Quickly seal this deal + move the two others out and get onto the next target.

We ain't signing superstars. This lad looks like he could do a job so must be worth chancing. Just don't sign anymore up on stupid long contracts.
