2022/23 James Tarkowski

People like to talk about how bad our recruitment is and how we always leave it until last minute, but getting this fella signed nice and early last summer was some of the best business we've done in the last few years.

The squad needs more players like him, dependable, available and will seldom give less than a 7/10 performance.

Hope we've got some smart out of contract players in mind again this summer.

If Coleman leaves or isn't playing Tarkowski seems like the best choice for captain. Although Pickford got the nod at the back end of the season. So I guess Tarkowski didn't want it?

Totally agree, he was one of last summers best signings for us. as Furey said 7/10 every week and doesn't miss a game on a free. The recruitment team gets a lot of stick but that was a good one.

I think he's a solid defender who played every premier league game which is commendable in general but for everton where we have an injury crisis every season its astonishing , seems like genuine affable guy and hes a leader who's feisty and will protect other players when needed , I think it was a good signing

Im not going to be mean here but I find it odd that posters dont rate Tarkowski.

Slot in a ball playing CB next to him (Branthwaite) and Tarkowski will be Mr reliable allowing the youngster to make the odd error while developing.

I've got no idea what you're seeing to think he's top notch, aside from maybe his wages.

He's just a typical bog-standard, bottom-of-the-table yard dog.
Think that’s a bit harsh more than happy for him to play CB especially if his partner isn’t Keane, Godfrey or holgate stays fit and gives 100% willing to put his body on the line good at interceptions and in the air least of our problems Tarkowski.

That's the thing. You want a Puyol and a Pique back there. The old hand with the positional sense to be the last line of defense, next to the young player with bags of talent, the recovery speed and the ball-playing skills. Old CB develops young CB's positional sense, he becomes the next rock, rinse and repeat.

He improved with Mina alongside him, but like the other three that are still on the books, he's only ever a sidekick for the sort of dominant leader that we don't have anymore.
