Jimmy Grimble
Player Valuation: £20m
A few weeks ago he was getting pelters. Good to see him getting the credit he richly deserves. Can't agree with the Jags comment though. He was immense in his time
Noticed him telling anyone who came near them (him and the ref) ‘it’s a penalty’ before the VAR check was even confirmed.…no idea how he saw it from where he was but he was one of the first in the referee’s ear about the penalty. Proper leader, puts everything on the line and then has that angelic grin.
Happy in his own skin, he’ll appreciate what he has because of where he’s come from and has formed a terrific partnership with Branthwaite.
he's one of the few we have who are always in the refs ear, in the faces of the opponents, winding them up, and in amongst it when there's a kerfuffle.Noticed him telling anyone who came near them (him and the ref) ‘it’s a penalty’ before the VAR check was even confirmed.
On the other hand Jags was a much better player in general, but him being a captain did kinda confuse me.I would actually argue he is one of our best signings in a while simply because of what he brings as a leader. You wish that Jags and some of the other good players we had over the years had that same quality. It is infectious.
Fastest player in the prem one year… but decidedly slow to get in the middle of a fracasOn the other hand Jags was a much better player in general, but him being a captain did kinda confuse me.
Club captains aren't chosen for their willingness to get involved in handbags at the end of a match. 22 grown men puffing their chests out safe in the knowledge that they'll get pulled away before anything even approaching a fight actually breaks out.On the other hand Jags was a much better player in general, but him being a captain did kinda confuse me.
This, it does make me laugh giving it large knowing they arent going to get tagged on the chin or blindsided (now that Dunc is long retired)Club captains aren't chosen for their willingness to get involved in handbags at the end of a match. 22 grown men puffing their chests out safe in the knowledge that they'll get pulled away before anything even approaching a fight actually breaks out.
They're a go between the players and the management and a good captain does a lot of stuff off the field that isn't just about football. That may well have been a big part of Jagielka's perceived value as a captain to those at the club and involved in the day to day. Impossible to say really.
LMAOO Tarky just ragging him away. Like a Doberman putting a Chihuahua in its place.
Agree completely!Yes. Both CBs fantastic. Branthwaites best game since he came back in. Easily mopped up their 55 minutes of hopeful but pointless crosses.
Especially love the way Tarky runs into any melee, has his initial shove to let them know he’s there, and then always smiles. Saying come on lad, you know you are going to walk away.
Brilliant signing. Often fantastic and consistently above average. Probably had half a dozen poor games for us, mainly during periods he should have been on the treatment table. Not a modern centre back, but still a fantastic centre back.
Also, whatever JB goes on to achieve, he wouldn’t have achieved half of it if he’d had to learn he’s trade alongside Keano. Huge credit to Tarks.
Regarding on pitch stuff I think Jags was a good leader in that he always demonstrated the commitment to put his body on the line that you would want the rest of the team to show and for his organization.Club captains aren't chosen for their willingness to get involved in handbags at the end of a match. 22 grown men puffing their chests out safe in the knowledge that they'll get pulled away before anything even approaching a fight actually breaks out.

Henderson made a career out of it. Running in giving it the big one right beside the ref, knowing he'll not get touched. This, it does make me laugh giving it large knowing they arent going to get tagged on the chin or blindsided (now that Dunc is long retired)
The jagielka captaincy argument is one that always makes me laugh, I reckon over his career about 10 different managers made him captain, but a few das on here who’ve never met him or played above pub level reckon he was crap at it.Club captains aren't chosen for their willingness to get involved in handbags at the end of a match. 22 grown men puffing their chests out safe in the knowledge that they'll get pulled away before anything even approaching a fight actually breaks out.

Welbeck should have stood WelBack when it came to O'Brien.
