2024/25 James Tarkowski

Regarding on pitch stuff I think Jags was a good leader in that he always demonstrated the commitment to put his body on the line that you would want the rest of the team to show and for his organization.

However he preferred to be a peace maker for on field disputes rather than Tarks more, err, “face forward” approach!
Jags was an incredible shot blocker. I do wish he had been a bit grittier and more willing to play the dark arts and get our other players going like Tarks does. Sometimes that kind of stuff wins games just by throwing the other team off their game. Both great in their own right though.

I feel we struggled in the derby's a bit because they had the snide that we lacked. That kind of was the culture at our club back then though. Not just Jags

100% this. When Tarks orchestrates it, the team runs through brick walls, when Tarks is desperate, it shows he lacks the pace, timing and technique of Jags.

Lots of clips, some with bizarre enchanting music, of Garner’s assist. It’s beautiful. Puts a bit of knuckle on it and it spins a bit to the right. Beto doesn’t need to take a touch. Lovely. Being called assist of the season???

I love Tarkowski’s though. Bags of spin. Starts the ball about 20 yards away from Beto’s starting point, with enough spin and perfect weight so that Beto’s angled run intersects it perfectly, without slowing down, no touch required again. From behind the goal it’s brilliant. Bigger gap to aim at compared to Garner, but more angles involved.

Viewing them both, they both owe a lot to Beto’s judgement of the path of the passes too. Two excellent goals. Both deserve equal limelight for me.

Easier angles though with an out to in ball, still deserves the credit like

They are saying it is the best assist of all time and will be responsible for several million babies being born called jimmy, James, Jamie in 9 months?

Been a decent signing on a free but this season has been a marked drop-off in most games. If we ever sign a RB then O’Brien takes his place.
