Looks very good in the SPL, has all the attributes to be a CB in a RM team, tall, strong, quick, comfortable on the ball, good passing range and chips in with the odd goal as well, he's right footed but plays left CB for Celtic, I'd be more than happy if we signed him, he's prob more attainable for us than other CB's being discussed, both Milan clus and Juve are linked with Nastasic and Ried looks set to stay in London with a move to Arsenal likely.

Id love us to sign Van Dijk, but there's no point in us signing players in January, as you get no value. If he is available for 8 million in January, then you could probably get him for around 4 million in the summer, as everyone knows that clubs offer massive discounts on their players during the Summer.

Van Dijk has had one or two mares in the higher standard of the Europa this season, at 8m its a risk bringing a centre half from that league.
That is true, I mean imagine how much Chelsea would have sold Lukaku for in January. Easily £22m or more!

While I don't expect Martinez to sign anyone, it's a bit ridiculous for people to say there's no value to be had in January. If anything, a club like Everton should be more aggressive than most in January based on the pre-contract/soon to be out of contract market alone. I remember Chelsea being in for some German starlet a year or two back and thinking how great it would be for Everton to make a move like that every now and again.
This isn't a video game and those deals are difficult at best, but from a sheer logic standpoint, the January window could be massive for a club with our financial challenges (ie: not being one of the six wealthy clubs).

Quite a powerful runner with the ball with some skills as well. Basically Del part 2 hopefully. Has the enthusiasm and arrogance to run at players with the ball which is probably what we need in a team lacking confidence.
I expect him if he came to run into plenty of blind alleys as Del did though.
