Byram is linked with a big move every window....leeds rejected 4.5mil from koeman in summer,

One thing about him is that hes never got any youth caps which seems strange

For players with years left to run on their contracts, yes. But those coming into their last six months or so, that's a different matter.

There's a few bodies out there who are on frees in the summer and therefore could be viable targets for a lowball bid now. Sadly there will be plenty of other teams looking along these lines too, but we could do worse than pick up the following:

RB: Sam Byram (Leeds)
CB: Winston Reid (WHU) or Fabian Schar (Basel) - I don't think we've a chance with Vlaar, I suspect he's nailed on for Man Utd and Van Gaal will send Villa one of his rejects as part of the deal.
CM: Fabian Delph (Villa)

Sure, we still need a winger / no.10 type (possibly two) but shoring up at the back and bringing in some cover at CM, whilst also weakening other prem teams in the process, wouldn't hurt us at all. I think the winger / no.10 will more likely be loans and I would be made up if one of them was Deulofeu, with an option to buy.

Another point that interests me is the situation in Ukraine - I imagine there are probably a few players in that league who would be keen for a move. Andriy Yarmolenko of Dynamo Kiev looks interesting on paper: 25 years old, left-footed right winger with 18 months left on his contract, regular scorer in the Europa League since 2010, 40 international caps but I've never actually seen him play - anyone got any thoughts on him?Would he be an alternative to this Konoplyanka fellow that people have mentioned?

.......those with a few months left could well be content to see out their contract fully to ensure a major signing fee and contract. Indeed, they might well have already agreed a summer deal. Great position to be in as a player in demand.

.........Barcelona lost their transfer ban appeal meaning they can't sign any players for the whole of next year. I know we have been linked with Delefeu and their reserve striker.

Forget signing a keeper, our biggest problem is our defence and cover.

Let's get rid of Distin and Barry and put Browning and Besic IN!

The whole Robles situation is becoming scarier by the day. From his comments yesterday, Martinez is clearing intent on playing him, saying he looked calm and did well against both Stoke and Newcastle, and that he might look at getting another goalie in January as cover.
