What concerns me is that if RM is given a good bit of money now, goes out and buy players what can we expect? More Robles, Alcaraz. Whatever players we could still be in the pooh and if RM does get the push, the new manager may not be keen on those new signings who no doubt will have been given 3/4 year contracts.
 
As important as it is getting in players its vital we get some out too.

Gibson Pienaar Distin Osman should all be made available for transfer.

We definetly need to strengthen. But our failings this season has been down to effort and not quality. It's the same side that got our record points total last season.

The start of the season I would have said with players staying fit no way would we need players in January.But now so many players have been poor,we do need to bring some in.The ones that have surprised me are jags,distin,Barry I thought they would be very solid, jags was at the World Cup and there was calls for Barry to go,it's easy to see that the form of these 3 are to blame for our defensive problems,a good defence give confidence for the rest of the team to move forward.But unless this is sorted we look in trouble,I still think jags is the best of a bad bunch at the back so a decent partner for him would help,with stones as back up,the Barry situation I can't understand why not just take him out for a few games.

the thing is, we wouldn't get any money for them. i don't mind keeping them around as long as strengthen the positions they play in, but then again if they're 5th choice centre back, 3rd choice left winger etc. they are possibly taking up a lot of wage space when youngsters could possibly do their scarce role that they'd actually have, as well as the issue with a 25 player squad max limit.

i think distin should be gone for certain in the summer out of those 4 and bring through galloway and browning as his replacement, as well as buying a new first choice CB of course. Osman's been very handy this season for me and hasn't been anywhere near the liability, plus for me, i still regard him as 3rd choice attacking mid only. a position we need to buy someone for anyway, whilst pushing ross back.

pienaar has looked cack for a while, still think he can do a decent backup job, but ideally we should sell him for a small fee, buy a first choice winger and then get a youngster on loan to go with what we have. but i would prefer to have 5 wingers tbh - suppose oviedo is an option.

gibson is the awkward one, who would pay anything for him? i don't like the idea of baines in midfield, but we need another in there because barry could well be passed it and gibson's never there for backup. get him on a pay as you play basis or ship him out and use him as deep backup. we need a squad at the end of the day, they're all decent enough players for backup's backup.

My point was that they may be having a negative effect on the squad as opposed to just costing us money
