Maybe if we're looking at this Brozovic (he'd be for a starting berth, decent player, watched him vs Italy) then potentially looking at dropping Besic back into centre-half with Stones? Not sure how effective that would be but it's an option if we can't find a decent defender. I just want Besic playing every game tbh and he's much quicker than Distin/Jags are at the minute it appears after last night.

I would give Besic a go in defence - he plays there for Bosnia, and despite his many tackles he does not really commit that many fouls. He is also lightning fast, which our defence has lacked for years. I would also put Oviedo on the left wing, IMO he could do well there. Otherwise I would go for:

• Winston Reid
• Simon Kjaer
• David Marshall

Always have to weigh up though "would they join Everton?". Right now they only pull we have is that we're in Europe still with a relatively easy (lol) next tie but looking at league positions we haven't got much allure right now compared to staying at West Ham.

Big strong lad, can play from the back, great on set pieces and ready for the next step

He'd be perfect for us

He'll be first choice for Holland by the next World Cup

I rate Adrian highly , would be happy if we signed him. But no premier league club in the right mind would let their first choice keeper leave in Jan.

After seeing Distin and Jagz last night, I would sign Dick van Dyke if it shored up our defence.

Complacency must be contagious as Seamus was looking poor last night aswell.

Delefeou please, Howard will do until the summer and a Stones / Jags partnership is good however I believe a defensive problems are deeper than just replacing players.

The transfer market has already begun and we've seen some deals already happen. Looking at Milan, a hot target for them is Marcelo Brozovic. A few days ago, Milan's offer was refused by Dinamo Zagreb so they've appeared to lighten up their chase for him. In the meantime, the interest in Brozovic has heightened from Valencia and Everton, who have offered €5 million. Ball in Dinamo's court now. The offer is there, now the player looks at this options.

He looks like he would be a perfect McCarthy replacement.

That's an interesting idea but I think if he wanted to try Besic as a CB he would have done so by now - even in a friendly.

Potentially but the way we've been periodically picking up injuries to the spine of the team and the form we've been in all season I don't think he's had a "test" game to try him there except maybe Krasnodar at home but that was a game for the kids.
