Problem with Martinez was apparent in the summer when he said he was happy with the squad depth. Now it is true we've been plagued with injuries but you have to look at depth in relation to quality too. Yes we have 4 centre-halfs which is ample for any squad (think FIFA career mode when you aim for 2 players minimum for each position) but do we have 4 decent players there? NO. We need 2 absolute gem starters (Stones + X) and then 2 reliable back-ups. Right now I reckon I could do a job in that team if Stones is injured.

Just read this on Sky Sports; we don't need him but... BOSNIA.

DZEKO TO BE LOANED OUT?

Staying with Manchester City, and Stoke are set to make a surprise bid to bring in striker Edin Dzeko on loan, claims the Stoke Sentinel.

With Oussama Assaidi returning to parent club Liverpool the Potters have room for another Premier League loan signing, and the local paper reports Mark Hughes is keen on the Bosnian, who could see his first-team opportunities limited with the imminent arrival of Wilfried Bony.

Would take him in a heartbeat on loan

Transfer rumours from the Echo today:

1. Sampdoria coach denying Eto'o link - doesn't really say much though, could just be a cover up but still sceptical anything is in the works.

2. Alex McCarthy linked again - young keeper who had one blinder and can't even get into the England U21 team; no from me.

3. Martinez quoted "There are a couple of options I feel could fit really well but I wouldn't just bring in anyone who stops the development of a youngster.

"I would rather make it a long-term signing. I don't think short-term would be a solution for us now." I don't actually ever remember reading the first line about him saying there are a couple of options but least we know he is looking.

Is it just me or are they conflicting reports, long term signing but not to stand in the way of a youngster? So must mean they will be first choice when signed and howard is on his way.

To me - probably only me - it worryingly sounds like he doesn't want a Marshall etc. because it will hamper Joel's development so he'd rather bring in a McCarthy/Nicholls to play Number 2 to Joel when Howard shifts off to play soccer drunk in the MLS.

Hopefully I'm reading into his comments very wrong.

But the first Cleverly post here was before the papers mentioned it.

I remember several years ago Everton forums had a few GENUINE ITK's, going back 5/10 years or more.

Ian Ross was the Grim Reaper.

Their was another lad called USI-RA who was on the medical staff who would let slip who had medicals booked. All good stuff.

People with snippets get hounded off if a transfer doesnt happen within 48 hrs, and are dismissed as being troublemaking reds if it's bad news.

However, another person mentions "Schurlle would be decent!" and it gathers momemntum like crazy.

Yeah completely agree. Remember DAVIDMOYES aswell? He was spot on with everything until he got one wrong and people hounded him off here.
