That was the party line later contradicted. He states here it was that he'd fell out with Rodgers and that was the problem.

We could offer him a pay as you play contract, but given the hullabaloo surrounding his departure it seems highly unlikely, I suppose.

As a few people have said its worth going for a few free transfers now for the summer.
Players worth 10mil or above should be available at half price. A surefire way to bring down thw average age of the squad and improve the quality.
Alternatively sign them now on pre contracts, unless they have mental demands theres low risk and plenty of upside even if they are from overseas and dont settle + need to be sold later.
