Good player Townsend, the problem IMO he had/has was all the hype he was getting went to his head, and he thought he could win games on his own, a bit like Barkley now.
You would think it all comes down to how sees Robles. Does he see him as a long term number 1 right now, or at the start of next season?Doesn't that go against everything he has said in recent weeks though? If we sign a keeper it will be a long term one, which suggests a younger player.
If Robles even approaches Howards 'good days' then Howard should be cashed in whilst we still can, then have Robles/New Keeper fight it out.
I agree and like Barkley he's young. He won't hit his peak for another 2-3 years.Good player Townsend, the problem IMO he had/has was all the hype he was getting went to his head, and he thought he could win games on his own, a bit like Barkley now.
Given that he wasn't in the market for a keeper before Howard's injury, Robles has played so well we think he might keep his place and Howard will be back soon then I don't think he's still looking at GK.You would think it all comes down to how sees Robles. Assuming Howard is done at Everton in the Summer, that will determine where we are at.
i don't think it was a point of that really mate.Given that he wasn't in the market for a keeper before Howard's injury, Robles has played so well we think he might keep his place and Howard will be back soon then I don't think he's still looking at GK.
I would agree with that. More likely a Summer decision to make if Howard leaves.Given that he wasn't in the market for a keeper before Howard's injury, Robles has played so well we think he might keep his place and Howard will be back soon then I don't think he's still looking at GK.
I will do my utmost to sign himI'm going to put my 100% faith in you and trust your judgement. I have never heard or seen him play except for that youtube video but he's certainly at a good age and a decent price to start with. Sign him up Kantareller!!
There's been absolutely nothing believable all window except the same BS paper stories about all our players being sold which given our position seem a bit less BS this year.
Either.
1. Bill doesn't want to risk Martinez with the money
2. We're not going to be spending for a few years until the stadium is built
3. Martinez is holding on till summer when his targets become available.
Take your pick but I would be very surprised if we sign anyone at all.
Can't see us buying Townsend as well as Oxlade Chamberlain, doesn't make sense.

ITKIt's a weird one on the face of it, but they're good friends from the England treatment room, and Martinez is hoping they'll help each other settle in to their new regime of chronic soft tissue problems.
Well let's not speculate. Doesn't sound good though.I'd like to think one would come in, just for the very sake of one coming in even, just to maybe gee the changies up a bit. But, as you've said, I'm not seeing it either. As mentioned (and without, I hope, soundin' like too much of a cock-head), I normally get bits & pieces of waffle & goss via a couple of old workmates - mainly about London clubs TBH - but up to now, not a sniff of anything remotely EVERTON in that either.
Pfff.....
Tell you what I have noticed though - there's normally a mention of 'there's money available if the manager needs to strengthen' etc, that kinda jazz - even if it's BS it's normally said to appease. And as far as I'm aware, not a mumble on that score, might be wrong like...
He gave Howard a 4 year deal. Was he just gambling that some US team would buy him?I actually reckon he had keeper on his mind even before Howard's injury.
Maybe just sped it up a little.
