Winning the youth World Cup doesn't mean England will produce good players tho does it? Out of all those layers maybe 20% will make it in the prem. and buying young English players is not "cheap" they are over hyped and over priced . The best approach for us is the Ajax model or monanco model IMO. Producing or buying youngesters and developing them and selling for a profit .

Lookman was 7.5mil + appearances etc to 11.5mil
Gibson was appearance based up to 6mil

Good value....

As for the u21 lads, theyre all proving themselves in the prem or championship...not doing badly.

Not sure mate outside of reports he's good. Think I've maybe seen him once for England but was against some wank team so can't judge.

When there isn't a top English one available then we should go for the Dolberg/Vlasic/Tielemans types...

If we could get sessegnon for example then no need to look overseas.

But top English talent is expensive and players like Patrick Roberts Etc are snapped up for home grown quota. Also English players seem to not fulfill their potential more than most... maybe it's the money maybe it's the ego Etc ... Wilshire , Walcott , ox the list goes on. We need to gain a reputation for giving young players the platform to prove themselves in this league and profit from it. Then when we have enough funds and we have a group of 4-5 players that are of a top standard or close to it... we need to invest and keep the players we have and have a proper go at the teams at the top

Everton have reportedly lodged a bid for Croatia international Domagoj Vida.

The versatile centre-back is claimed to have already signed a pre-contract agreement to join Besiktas in the summer, but Turkish reports indicate that the Super Lig club could sell Vida on for an instant profit.

According to Firat Gunayer, a reporter for TrtSpor, the Toffees have already lodged a €7 million bid in an attempt to land the experienced defender. Gunayer claims, however, that this bid has been rejected.

Gunayer’s tweet indicates that Besiktas are keen to keep hold of the 28-year-old for at least a season. Whereas, Turkish news outlet Milliyet claim that if an offer worth €10 million comes in, Besiktas will negotiate a move away for Vida.

Everton are short of defensive options and could move for new talent in the near future. Vida fits the bill based on his ability to play in both central defence and on the flanks.
