I’d be happier shipping some dead wood out and getting just a couple of quality players in.
Besic???!! Where is he? Has he been with us for 4 years now?

You would think that having failed to get a striker in during the summer and knowing that this failure has totally blown our season there would have been three months spent making sure the problem was rectified in January and that we had at least one striker signed, sealed and delivered at 12.01 on New Year's Day.

My worry is he's the only link. No links to left back or centre back. Surely we can try and buy more than one player at a time?

....it’s day 2 of the January transfer window and here’s a summary of the rumours for this Tuesday morning:

- According to the Daily Mirror, Everton and Arsenal are battling for the signature of Hoffenheim’s 24 year old midfielder, Karim Demirbay.

- The Mirror also report Everton’s pursuit of Besiktas striker, Cenk Tosun, is in danger of collapsing after the Turkish club upped the players valuation to £27m. Everton have apparently offered a ‘take it or leave it’ £25m. Speaking to Sky Sports, Allardyce said “we have done all we can to secure the player but we should know in the next 24 hours whether that is enough”.

- Spanish Sports outlet, Diario AS, say Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are interested in signing 29 year old Athletico Madrid Forward, Nicolas Gaitan.

- The Daily Mail says Allardyce has £70m available to spend in this window.

The clear out will hopefully happem this month. Im not too concerned who we bring in yet esp if it is inknown if its big sam who will be leading the line next year. We have some awful players. And very average ones. And some unknowns who in all fairness havent got a real chance to prive themselves.Very few top players that stand out.

So we need to cull, cull, cull. This window and summer. I believe up to 10 players out. We all have our idea who but most of us will agree on a 5 or 6 if them.

The only above average players who should be in our starting 11 are pickford, Keane, Sig, Coleman, gueye . All the rest of the squad are below average prem players or worse. So basically we need new lb, CB, lw, rw, St.

If the 70m figure has any semblance of truth and if that is independent of player sales then it would be easily enough to balance out this squad if the right targets are chosen.

Striker (Tosun) - 25m say, Gaitan (15m-?) De Vrij (10-15m?) offer Celtic 30m for Tierney, sell a couple of the dross in the squad -

Also mate, one thing that shouldn't be overlooked, is that we have some players who haven't settled in the side at all, Sandro, Klassen and Keane for starters, bringing in the right types of players into the squad could actually see any or all of those suddenly clicking

People still talk about SA not being here after the end of this season and yet the board have sanctioned a bid of 25m for a Turkish striker that most of us never heard of before, in addition it looks as if we will sign N'Nzonzi if possible and we are also looking for a left back, all to be signed by Sam, but he will only be here until May...?
