thanks for clearing that up mate.

i knew is pure BS... again

Thing is Elstone has form for lying about numbers at AGMs, but hey he gets away with it and keeps his job (gets promoted), funny thing is - the lie wasn't even remotely believable as soon as it left his mouth to anyone who has followed roughly incomings and outgoings at the club, it basically requires double what you bring in - so the more you bring in for fees received you have to spend proportionally the same amount to keep that 2x figure, but in reality a hell of a lot more 'in real terms'

what are they trying to hide by doing it tho? where does dressing the figures up help them out.

I'd be surprised Moshiri allows them to do it, being a chartered accountant, having said that his Usmanov ties probly screams 'fraud' at us !

it just makes the whole club look inept.

Total incomings under Moshiri 178m

So thats all business done under Moshiri - the statement of spending 2 pound for every one brought in by sales should in fact have been we have been spending 1.29 pound for every 1 pound brought in by sales.

OFC - if you wanted to try to spin it, you could include money spent (although the way it was phrased was in terms of the squad etc) on managers - so that would be under Moshiri - 11m in compensation to sack Martinez, 5m in compensation to Saints for Koeman - then a 10m payoff to sack Koeman, and then a 2m payoff to palace to hire Allardyce so a further 28m spent on managers over 2 years in just terms of compensation packages etc. factoring in that would bring the ratio to 1.45 pound to 1 pound. (258.6m compared to 178m)

To get the figure and ratio closer to the way Elstone portrayed it to be you would have to start getting very creative in what was included and what wasn't included, for example - any addons on players sold - NOT included, any addons on players bought - included.

So Lukaku form example stays at the flat fee of 75m - despite 15m further being in addons, Rooney for example was estimated to have cost 10m as part of the Lukaku transfer - so we would add that 10m into the players bought, but not factor it into Lukakus sale price. Tosun would go from the flat agreed fee of below 20m up to the maximum fee with addons of 25m say... same with Bolasie - from the 20m fee to the maximum we will pay which is 27m, similarly you have 4m in addons attached to Schnedierlins transfer, Onyekuru goes to 10m, Lookman 12m etc etc. Include all loan fees paid for players - but not include any received etc, also then knock off the stones sell on we had to give Barnsley - which in reality should classify as both incoming and outgoing and thus balance - but if you are being creative you could use it twice, by saying we paid Barnsley the 7m sell on fee, and then wiping that off the incoming fees also

so you would be able to (by being creative with accounts) add on another 42m to the incomings spent and knock off 7m from the players incomings.

That would move the ratio to more like 300m spent, and 170m recieved, which then moves the ratio to a massive 1.77 spent per 1 received.

So even being massively creative with the way you record sales and using different criteria for spend, you still can't get even close to those figures Elstone quoted, effectively he outright lied to the AGM, the only thing which would even semi move (and i believe he did) would be to knock off all loyalty bonuses paid to players sold from the incoming fees received, to add on all agent fees and signing bonuses for players onto the costs of players bought.

Should write to him about this because it’s beyond a joke he’s done this before.

This “project” is all about spin and we have some very good spin doctors.

Thing is it doesn't mate, because check on media today, not one single one will cast any doubt on what was said and most will just print it verbatim, thus it goes into 'record' as fact and will be regurgitated in any article about our spending and Moshiri's backing of the club, thus it serves his purpose.

Much like Kenwright fostered the notion of us as a small club punching above it's weight for 2 decades - and instead of him receiving criticism, he received constant plaudits and became media wise and for every other fans besides us, regarded as the perfect example of a chairman and us as a well run club.

Facts don't matter - what actually matters is what people think are the facts, and besides no one REALLY cares about Everton, outside of Evertonians

Everton have a ambitious owner who is backing them with everything he has to turn them into a top team.
Everton are the epitome of a well run club with the model owner that most other clubs supporters are envious of

Those in a nutshell are the last two media narratives we've been spun, and both are perceived as gospel in the media and outside of us supporters world. Both ultimately are lies

We have funding in place for 300m - 2/3rds of the cost of the new stadium, napkin math says that therefore the new stadium must be 450m.
Kenwright briefs the press that the new stadium would cost 500m minutes after the AGM ends.

2/3rds of the funding in place sounds a lot better than saying we have 3/5ths of the funding in place.

In reality Elstone lied again this time to the tune of 10% of the total cost of the stadium which we do not have funds for, or 50m...

Seriously why hasn’t the media picked up on this?

It’s unethical to lie to shareholders and stakeholders and so blantaly.

Ummmmmmmmmmm.....FIRST off, can we take a second to point out the three absolutely massive errors you have made in compiling a nice little list to support your view? I say errors as I can only assume you didnt do them on purpose, as that would be incredibly dishonest.

1. What they said at the AGM was "Over the last 7 windows Everton have spent £335.3m while bringing in £170.3m.", not, over the past 3 windows. So you are missing Niasse at 13.5m, Funes mori 9.6M, Lennon 4.5,, Deolufeo 4.2m, Tarashaj 3.4m, not to mention about 2 million for others such as Holgate. Outgoings over those next 2 windows was only Naismith, 8.5m. The winter window of 14/15 had no expenditure. So that revises your totals to 267.81 bought, and 186.5 sold.

2. Siggurdson? 45 million. Mighty convenient to leave that name off the list as its the biggest transfer. Revised figure at 313 million bought.

3. We sold Barkley twice? Convenient. So thats 15 million off of the sales, revising that down to 171.5m.

Now, if you consider that they said last 7 windows and wanted to point out how much they spent, they also likely meant the summer of 2014, where we spent 32 million on Lukaku and besic, and had outgoing of only 1 million. Figures now at 344 spent and 172.5 sold. Or almost EXACTLY 2 for 1.

So it appears based on your research they were telling exactly the truth. I get that doesnt fit peoples agendas, and that Everton have been messy in the past, but if you really really really thought that an accountant would send out his team to give very wrong numbers at a general meeting in front of journalists, you need to consider just how much of what you believe is true and how much you desperately just want to hate on the people involved.
