Well, could be worse. This time last year Big Sam was our manager and @Eggs news for the day was

.....day 17 of the January transfer window and here’s a round-up of rumours for this Wednesday morning:

- Various outlets report Theo Walcott has completed his medical and will finalise a move to Everton today. Depending on which you read, the fee is said to be £20m or £25m.

- The Daily Star say Everton have rejected a loan bid from Real Betis for 22 year old striker, Sandro Ramirez. The Toffees prefer a permanent deal and have set a minimum price tag of £8.8m.

- Estadio Deportivo reports the agent of Barcelona’s Aleix Vidal saying he is talking to clubs in Liverpool and Manchester about a possible transfer but fails to mention which specific teams. The 28 year old mainly plays right wing back.

- According to Guardian’s Deputy Sports Eitor, Ed Aarons, Everton will find out this week if they have won the race to sign French U21 Forward, Martin Terrier. The Toffees are apparently fighting it out with Bournemouth for the £13m rated Lille player, with Lyon also reported to be interested.

- Italian media is reporting that Inter Milan’s move for Barcelona midfielder, Rafinha, is being held up because the player is also considering an offer from Everton.

- Spanish news outlet, Marca, say Everton and Sevilla are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder, Omar Mascarell. The 24 year old left Real Madrid in 2016 after spending a season long loan at Derby County.

Apologies in advance, but I couldn’t see any links to a Left Back.

Discussion then went onto whether Creswell, Chillwell, or Shaw would make a better LB and if Garbutt could be activated! And a jarg rumour that we were in for Vardy! Bolasie was still being put into teams and Keane was being derided for being complete gash.

We were one position better in the table, but three points worse off. The most remarkable thing for me given our business in the summer is that we're only three points better off. But say what you will, I wouldn't go back one year for anything.
We haven't played Saints away yet.

Let's see what happens at the weekend before saying it's not all that bad eh.

If we invested Moshiri's money in quality rather than wasting it on disappointments then we'd be rubbing shoulders with the top 6 and be a good few levels above where we currently are.

Unfortunately we blew it on too many players that offered, or are still offering, too little.

Moshiri is quite obviously not the problem - it is bizarre that some think he is. He's a rich man that has provided a lot of money for us to try and improve but instead we've stockpiled mediocrity.

It's hard to shift ageing, over-payed, mediocre players. It's even harder when we take too long to identify that they're not worthwhile keeping at the club and instead let them stagnate and their value drop while they carry on picking up their wages for essentially making up the numbers in training.

Firing Walsh and appointing Brands has been the turning point but, as good as he may be, he is going to struggle shifting the over-payed, past-their-prime or simply not-good-enough players that we have on our books and it will take more than two transfer windows to write their wages off the books.
We got 90 m for Lukaku
50m for Stones
15 for Barkley( Brands would have got more)
Plus what Moshiri has spent before Brands arrived say 150 m
Can you imagine what Brands would have done with that 300m

It doesn’t bare thinking about but hopefully once he sees off the crap we don’t want he will then get the funds to spend on proper players who will improve us again
