January Transfer Thread 2017

Aye if this is all it is then i am happy with the business. I wanted a barry replacement and got one, and a hopefully boss young winger to get enthusiastic about, plus of course tom davies suddenly making a name for himself.

So yeah, better than loaning Gardner in or senderos or some jarg player who is crap.

We all hope for more of course as there are still loads of areas we need to improve and people we need shot of. It's just going to take time. I worry some, not necessarily you, thought everything would be sorted this window.

Having said that, there's 2 weeks left. Anything could happen in the next 14 days.

Mate i expected nothing this window so so far it has exceeded my expectations ;)

We've got some good business done and, to borrow a quote from the ginger one, formerly of this parish, Davies being unleashed is like a new signing. Still need a couple of good additions but you'd think Walsh and Koeman have looked at the Davies situation, our recent tactical changes and wondered if they maybe need to adjust their other targets. Still 12 days, I'd like another two or three of players if possible (Jags and Geri to leave and like-for-like replacements brought in as well as a striker to help Rom - probably too much to hope for that Kone would go as well) but I don't think we need to panic too much if the right players aren't available until the summer

Couldn't be less arsed at not signing Belfodil or Depay. Morgan was the one I wanted, anything else is a bonus now given that it's Jan. A centre half and striker wouldn't hurt Ron.
Pretty much agree with this. However, I think if signings are available, it'll be wise to get them in now over the summer because it'd allow us to really attack next season, going into it with a settled squad fully of actual quality for the first time in ages. I feel we need a CB, a GK, a WG and a ST. If we could get two of those in and two in the summer, that'd be perfect.

If we can get a quality centre half in (VVD, Manolas etc) and a top class player who can play across the front positions and take a bit of pressure of Barkley having to provide (and who adds some goals) - my preference would be Dzagoev obviously, then would be a absolutely perfect window - yeah we'd still have a fair few positions that are weak (especially in depth - GK, another striker, and a decent cover for Baines at lb)

but the rest of the positions i'd hope we turn to the academy to fill if needed - rb we have kenny, centre mid we look sorted atm, but have walsh maybe ready to step forward sooner rather than later etc

Even one of the two positions i mention cb, versatile creatvie player, would turn this window into by a mile the best out of any club in the league and our best january one ever

Another one in would be good, at least expectations tend to be lower in January.

I remember going into TDD last August there was still talk of making 5 signings that day!

I knew we were going to be disappointed at about noon when the Moshiri-Jim White communications channel was opened!

wanted Schneiderlin for a while, good business. Lookman, not a bad start i suppose. Still think we are in desperate need for a new CB and CF. If Rom gets injured we are in serious trouble.

Well considering it takes us about 10 days to complete a transfer we better start getting linked to some new players soon.

Clock is ticking

Stek, Williams, Gana, Valencia.
Morgan, Lookman, Bailey, CB/CF.
Hart/Perin/Ruffier, CF/CB (SEE JAN), AM.

Coleman, Baines, Holgate, Bolasie, Mori, Davies, Mirallas, Ross, Romelu, Mccarthy (hope he doesn't go), Lennon, Delboy (Milan are unsure about fees).

If we could add Bailey (rumours I know) and say Niang from Milan (available as inconsistent) as back up to Romelu in this window and then add a decent keeper and koeman's choice of a centre half next summer, we will have at least 18 players of good quality.

I would then be looking at the stadium issue with real determination. We need a decent squad now because we all know a new stadium would restrict us somewhat on the pitch. Unless usmanov shares the same dreams we all do ;)

Yeah, reminds me of the summer window a bit.
No chatter, then suddenly mosh with the "watch this space" and then BOOOOOOM... enner valencia.

I think it was more 'watch this space' then Valencia, then BOOM....

911 What is your emergency ? Erm yeah I got a barrel full of Evertonians lying dead here. I think they have been struck down by Everton's false hope again.
