But interest from Everton has turned his head and he is expected to hold talks over a move to Goodison Park this week, the Birmingham Mail understands.
Donkor is yet to make a first-team appearance for Wolfsburg however he has shown great promise for the under-age groups in Germany.
He is regarded as one of the top young talents in his homeland and has been checked out by a number of clubs.
Earlier this month he confirmed the Villa interest, saying: “Yes, my agent has had contact with Aston Villa. In order to further develop myself, a loan to England would surely be a good thing.”
He is expected to now discuss a move to Merseyside rather than the Midlands."

"rental"? So he's coming on loan? Why would we do that? He can help us but can't get a game for Wolfsburg?
