January Transfer Thread 2017

We've cleared out some deadwood, now it's time to strengthen an area that needs it; forward line. Whether that be a striker who can play out wide and create chances from nothing or a centre forward who can do the same and act as second striker/ backup to Lukaku. Without that option I think we will run out of ideas and goals very quickly.

How many do we need? Does it include the likes of davies, holgate etc?

Both under 21 so dont count.

After the closing of the summer transfer window each Premier League club had a deadline of 4pm on 1 September to submit a squad list containing no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the "Home Grown Player" (HGP) criteria.

The remainder of the squad, up to a total of 25 players, must be Home Grown. An HGP means a player who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Changes to the squad list of 25 may be made during the period of a transfer window. Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad. For the 2016/17 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 1995.

Each club squad list is below as well as an additional list of each club’s registered Under-21 players who are eligible over and above the squad limit of 25 players.

You can see the list here :

And I made a mistake, we have 9.

:blush::blush::blush:

Tbh Rooney up top in a front 2 with Lukaku would be a great signing if the price was right £12-15 million. Would be great at holding the ball up for Rom and can pick out a pass. Obviously not going to happen but worse could happen this window than Wayne coming back.

Great input I think I have changed my mind now with that in depth analysis.
Fine. I disagree with your assertion that Keane and Rooney would get us top 4 as I think Rooney would be a huge mistake on our part purely on the pitch. He'd prove to be an expensive and ultimately detrimental acquisition that I feel is uneccessary. I hope you take this on board, that you consider this a comprehensive enough response and I'd very much appreciate your feedback.

Thanks xx
