Have never understood why they make a whole day of it, should just come on about 8 o'clock in the evening, a few hours before the window shuts.

Think it's leftover from the days when Twitter etc. wasn't so widespread. Sky would be one of the only outlets to get breaking transfer news.
Now it's all a bit pointless seeing as clubs announce it instantly on Twitter and millions of people get the news 5 minutes before Sky report it.
