Cheers for that Ste and thanks to your missus for the insight. Always best to get feedback direct from those who watch him game in game out.

...very useful insight, thanks for that (and thank your Mrs too). I think it's impressive for any 19 year old to play regular league football, he must have the right mentality and be able to cope with the physical demands. It's also quite possible he'll improve for playing with better footballers. Watch this space signing.
Pleasure lads. She's also insisting that I post this picture she took at Bristol Rovers game as it's the nearest she's ever been to footballer and is rather proud of it.

Looks rather good taking corners in blue eh?

OK, so the missus says Lookman has been a regular starter for CAFC this year and most of last season. Apparently they stopped playing him when it looked like he was off at the end of last season (apparently the shoite were having a sniff at that point). He's captained Charlton once, I know it's league one but quite impressive for a 19 year old. Although nominally a winger they play him as a forward and occasional CM. Very fast, goal threat, terrier all over the pitch particularly in the box, wants the ball, wants to score. Downsides; he's a bit undisciplined and if he's rotated out can go a bit idle, although his dips in effort/form have coincided with the times Charlton have been trying to flog him. Charlton fans are sad to see him go but know it's inevitable, they think he's probably too young to be a regular premiership starter and definitely needs to put some concentration into his game. They really hope they can retain him on loan but 10 million is a lot for them at the minute.

She asked CAFC fans on twitter to describe him in 3 words. One of their lads who goes to every game home and away said: "Promising. Potential. Exciting. Sorry to see him go. Hard to step up from league one but only 19, thought Poyet would do well but he's flopped a bit. But potential is there if he's looked after. He has looked a class apart at times, with a better team around him could be an excellent player. " This fella's prem team is Liverpool apparently.
Another lad said "Everton are about to sign one of the brightest, most exciting prospects in England at the moment, look after him, let him grow."
The general feeling is that he's not quite ready for Premiership, but the missus is more optimistic that he's already capable.

Great stuff that mate, thanks.

If as some have suggested, he's like Sterling, then I see that as quite exciting. For as big a bell as the kid is, he has pace and trickery that scares defenders and creates space for others.

Sounds like a smart kid and hopefully he's allowed to develop properly here.

There was absolutely nothing to suggest any - let alone all - of them deals are done, or even in the pipeline.

Stop doing this to yourself: every transfer window is the same. Rumour control goes into overdrive and it only benefits the betting companies (primarily SkyBet) and agents.

And yet a couple of hours after I posted that, Phil McNulty has come out and echoed what I said minus Gabbiadini who I'm not arsed about anyway.

Thank your missus profusely for the info, while also passing on my opinion that she's a tad lazy to only just be getting up at this time.

Think of all the top managers who have failed to 'control' him, why should Koeman be any different. Gave kopites mate some right stick when they signed him, don't think I could ever look them in the eye should we go and sign him. Everton is a club that prides itself on values and the right type of character when representing the club. Mario offers none of that.
Why are we even talking about him !!!!

From Charlton respected ITK.

"Mentioned on another thread, apparently Lookman is a done deal to Everton. This was done a few weeks ago just after Bolaise got injured. Rising to 5.7m"

Also some other views from the forum

"Lookman is very talented. he has wonderful ball control, acceleration and a decent eye for goal. He tends to hold the ball too long and over does the fancy stuff but I like his very cool attitude. I note he does run back to try to win the ball back. Playing for England at his age group is evidence of his ability. I think he is already too good for our team and will improve with better players. KR is probably right saying he is running on empty at the moment. Good luck to the kid"

"I am surprised that some cannot see the talent the lad has. Worth every penny and more of £10 million in this day and age"

"Some people on here are either insane or nothug about football. He'll continue to be a brilliant player. Honestly it troubles me that we get an amazing exciting young player ans all people can do is moan about him"

Sounds positive, always like to hear the views of those who watch them week in week out rather than just relying on YouTube.

Having said that, here's the most recent video of him taken from this season, there's some magic in them boots. Looks a bit greedy as he ignores an easy pass for a tap in a few times but there's nothing wrong with self belief at that age, he can be taught that. Suspect they're spot on when they say he holds onto the ball a bit too long too, but that'll come.
