General opinion seems to swing back and forth on here about him haha one minute would be a good signing, the next is crap and waste of money etc

Think in his case for arguments sake, given enough game time could he break 10 goals a season as a second striker? If so then would be a good investment, if not then no. that rule applies to any second striker that we possibly brought in.

wow, there is me talking about signings, forgot myself for a minute, still not sold anyone right? ahh well.

It's definitely not on anyway, Watford wouldn't be willing to part with him any more than we would be in for him, but a combative ball winner behind Lukaku would work in theory. I thought we were going to see that with DCL before his game was cut cruelly short, but there were a few glimpses of how it might look

i would take Jay Rodriguez, he made some impressive runs yesterday that really stood out. I think hes a great squad player and would be relatively cheap and an improvement on our current backup options

we wont be looking for a typical playmaker type behind him mate, almost certain we will look to bring in a 'secondary' striker type

Deeney will be a rubbish rumour like, but that 'style' of player is a lot more likely than a siggurdson type (see Isak, Dolberg links for the type we will more likely be after)

Did you see Unsworth when describing DCL. HE said he is a number 10 who thinks like a striker and wants to get on the end of things. Hew also said that was his preference, which made a lot of sense to me.

Footbal goes in cycles and it does seem like the number 10's of the last 10-15 years who've been a fixture may be getting fazed out again. Bigger athletes in midfield are squeezing them out. Either way, for where we are at, which is a side who still lack a bit of confidence who's aim is to get the best of Lukaku he has always looked happier with a lad up top helping him.

It's disappointing for DCL as how Unsworth described him fitted the bill perfectly with what Koeman said about getting the right type of number 10 for Lukaku. I hope he's not out too long term. I'd like to think he will come back strongly and he hasn't missed his moment.

I heard he is an Evertonian too? Or at least has a soft spot for us. Don't think he's the right quality for where we want to be though..

Schniederlin, Sigurdson Snodgrass, Keane and Pickford. And some Lukaku backup. That'll do. Probably a couple of wingers too. And another centre half. And cover for both full backs. Not much to ask is it.

But I do agree with this.

Agree with this for the most part.

I like the player though, he can be deployed a couple of different ways and certainly could play a second striker role. Think he has more to offer than Deeney tbh.

I'm sure Southampton would want more than he is actually worth.
