Tbh in the modern game every player needs to have pace, Koeman tried to make us a pace less side and we are still trying to recover from that.

1) He will cost a lot - are we in a position to throw huge amounts at one position?
2) He’s highly rated and will have options. He might be close to Carlo, but Koeman and Van Dijk were close, we were linked, and look where he ended up!

Undoubtedly he has quality but those ‘team of XYZ’ can be misleading sometimes. How will what he brings to the table benefit our team as it is currently?
People are deluded if they think we can get him when teams like real madrid or united are behind him...and this even with Ancelotti. He will cost over 100 millions at least and he will want to play in a team that is challenging for titles. Let's be realistic guys...I know its Christmas but still...

It’s not impossible but it’s highly unlikely. At the very least we need to clear out some players first and we’ve struggled with that due to having underperforming players on big wages.

I enjoy your posts MG and find myself agreeing with you 99% of the time however I just can’t for the life of me see how you’ve come to this conclusion.
Everytime I’ve seen him play he screams premier league to me.
The last 2 years he’s looked the best centre half on the pitch, including VVD when they’ve played Liverpool. They’ve matched up again each other directly in both boxes for set pieces and Koulibaly easily had the upper hand to me.
Maybe you’ve seen more of him than me but I personally don't have any concerns of him not working here if he came.
