January Transfer Thread 2020

Can you honestly see Davies in a midfield aiming for top 4.????
JJK may come back better but his defensive abilities while here were shocking
No. But can you see how we get a top 4 midfield within this window that allows us to punt him straight away?

My only real objection to your comment is that I'd probably consider him going in Summer as he is probably one of the best of a bad bunch I'd have him over Siggurdson and Schneiderlin (both dead to me now); Gomes and Gbamim are injured which only leaves the options of a defender-Holgate, injury prone-Delph, Iwobi who isn't looking likely for defensive midfield or Davies in the middle of the park for me - which ain't inspiring me to get shut. Yet.

JJK - We'll see when he comes back. Maybe he'll pick up a professional attitude and work ethic that looks lacking within the Everton camp at the minute.

Again I never said January.
I said at the start of next season only 5 possibly 6 of our current squad should be in the starting 11
it will take 3-4 seasons to get the squad where Ancelotti would want it
,Unless as was once famously said
If that Iranian lad has the dosh he said he has

Even the likes of Niasse have been content with wasting away with the u23s.
Exactly. None of them will care less if they're bit part players or regular starters, because they're not going to make even half as much money anywhere else.

Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin and Walcott have all had their chance at a big club and come up short, and the latter two are no longer being considered for international football. Their careers are effectively in the winding down period.

Tosun has all the time in the world to go back to Turkey, so he may as well squeeze what he can out of his spell in a money league.

I think there's a good chance that Keane will look to move, though, as he's still fairly young and has recently played for England.

Obviously not all are,but if you look around not that many get to the standard of the top four teams. And if that's where we want to be...

What we need now is people who would improve us now and would be proud to wear the shirt. To me, Liam Walsh would be a massive improvement on both Sigurdsson and Schneiderlin, without a doubt, and would also play for the shirt.

I Love the idea of having big names playing for Everton, but there has to be a trade off. We have tried signing the "big name for the sake it" signings, looking for a shortcut to success, like spending more gets you more, and what we are left with is a dozen expensive flops on massive wages who we can't shift.

If we can balance that out, have some hungry, younger players desperate to prove a point and who are honoured to be playing for our team, and mix that with the right big names who take you to the next level, that's the only way we are going to be able to compete. Because currently, the cost of replacing near enough an entire 11, using the big name only method, will cripple us.

If you've watched Walsh over a full 10/12 games I bow to your greater knowledge, but other than that goal it's hard to see how he'd hit the ground running in a side that's stuggling to find any consistent form (to say the least)

Sorry I'm in full on ship the load of them out mode! I just assume everyone else is too!

I pray our Mosh has Uzzy's dosh resting in his account this January.
if i could ship 20 out in January and sign 20 better non cowards I would too
But its not practical or feasible
5 OR 6 guaranteed starters between Jan and the summer windows.

It will have to be a measured approach even if the manager wanted to get rid of half a dozen today.
We need players to put out a team on Saturday and he will be forced to play some players that he will want gone from the club because he has no alternative or very little.
We know it is difficult to sign good players in January and it is the window that gives us the best chance of moving players we don't want as clubs can get desperate as the window nears closing.

Think you make a good point here.

Sometime people see the January transfer window as a way to strengthen. It's hard to due to player availability.

That weakness in the January window can also be a strength if you want to shift players. Teams are potentially more desperate to make a signing due to their league position. Also, the pool of players available is much smaller than in the summer.

If there are players identified already that we may want to move on (maybe due to style and fit, contract value or re-sale value) than January may be a good time to do it. Even if it leaves the squad a player or too light. If so use the youth system to evaluate some players from there.
