.....Eintracht Frankfurt striker, Goncalo Paciencia, continues to be linked. 25 years old, Portuguese @ £15m-£20m.

Read somewhere that he’s scored 9 goals In Two seasons ... 25 so nearing his prime and he’s putting up numbers that aren’t any better than DCL9. I have never seen him play but I would expect tuson to score more than that in that league tbh

...9 in 22 games for Eintracht Frankfurt. I think the ‘two season’ point was because of injury.’Wiko’ mentions a ‘heart problem’ but I think that might be a translation error because I can’t see anything else on that point.

Don't get what he's at with that stuff atm, does absolutely no good when we're going through a bad patch.
It's almost as if he's now become entrenched in perpetual negativity, and his 'sources' unsurprisingly continue to support this view. Selective vision?

"We are not assured of planning permission." could be written as "Planning permission is not certain, but as a club we're very confident that we will be successful."

Perhaps that doesn't fit his modus operandi?

A bit pessimistic but many of the challenges the Esk talks about i tend to agree with him, of particular note we are about to post an unsustainable loss of 80-90 mill.

Something has to give here and i suspect its the footballing side of things.

Gonçalo is a very good player. However, that means Kean or Tosun will leave in January

Yeah, I think it will be Tosun, the manager doesn't like him, if we get Tosun out for £20m and this lad in for the same amount, then it's kind of like for like, there were some German teams interested in Cenk before the window closed in the summer

Ahh so not as bad as it sounds ... I do t really have faith in us finding a striker tbh . We never seem to have any luck barring lukaku

...not sure if it’s luck, I think it’s more judgement. Think about the Reds; Rush then Fowler then Owen then Torres etc.

For me, I like a player with a pedigree of scoring, with real athleticism. attitude and quality. Boxes to be ticked from watching him.

Portuguese with no heart. Fit in well with current regime.

But they do get luck, Fowler moved on and did nothing and basically retired at 26, Owen left and then didn’t do anything ever again and was always injured , Torres was promising at althletico , ripped it up with the RS then sold for massive money and never had the same form again, Salah binned by Chelsea then let go by Roma not exactly known for scoring then signed for just 34m and ends up scoring 42 goals. Suarez was ripping the league up with them and became world class, lukaku is the best we have had in the prem then yak then Campbell and then??? Beattie? No Johnston ? Max moore? Raszinski? We have had shocking strikers 90% of my time watching Everton and that’s probably why I’m not confident

Makes me sad just thinking about it.

Lineker then Sharp then Cottee then Sharp then Big Dunc then Madar then Big Dunc then Bent then Beattie then Johnson then Yakubu then Lukaku. (Cross section, clearly more Amokachi and the other African lad whose name eludes me right now).

We've just never been lucky. Plenty left out but compared to the small number of named RS the gulf in goals and class is scary. Caveated with that they didn't win much with that lot. Conversely nor did we.

Where's this come from mate?

I'm no accountant, but if you evaluated your own finances the day before pay day, then you could conclude that your expenditure over the past month was unsustainable, but it would become sustainable the following day once you get your pay cheque. Also, if you have been using an overdraft, then yeah, you will be massively overdrawn the day before pay day, but then you will have paid all of the overdraft back as soon as you get paid, and will once again have full access to the overdraft.

My understanding of an 80 - 90 million pound loss would be that we have spent 80 - 90 million more than we have received, so I'd ask where the additional 80 - 90 million came from in the first place? There are only a few options, a cash injection from Moshiri, a bank overdraft, or a bank loan.

If it's from Moshiri, then he either might not be arsed, might want to do a Peter Johnson and sell club assets to repay his investment, he may say 'no more, that's your lot', or he could be like 'Hey, have some more'. Either way, it's not the type off loss that would cause the type of concern experienced when Arteta was sold.

If it's from an overdraft, and I believe we have one for about 60 million, then it would only be a concern if the bank wanted to call it in. Otherwise, pay day will sort the overdraft out, and allow us to continue using the overdraft.

I don't think it's come from a traditional bank loan that would clearly need to be securitised at those figures. We would know if it had.

Our net spend in the summer was small, about 30 million. I'd like to think there should still be money available both in January and the summer. If there isn't then I think it shows that Moshiri hasn't made that much difference at all, because everyone else in the Premier League is continuing to spend.
