I will fume if we get a defender in over a midfielder or striker.

Yes we're going to be short at the back for 6 weeks, but we're already short at the front and creatively. In fact we have two perfectly capable, top centre backs but no top forwards and no playmaker.

Do we really need another defender though?

Sure it sucks not having Jags fit for 6 weeks but is it really worth getting another defender in to cover for him till he comes back in mid to late Feb and then having an extra defender when we would be better off improving other areas of the picth where we can benefit for the rest of the season?

in Moyes land, yes you do. Another defender means Neville and heitinga can carry on their dynamic *cough* midfield partnership. Meh, just shows what I've thought for ages, we don't have enough depth (and quality) in most areas of the team. Its almost like he's oblivious to us only having tired centre backs (you need four in a squad in my opinion) and just assumes they'll stay fit. Then when injury strikes Moyes wakes up. Dread to think what he'll do if Baines got injured... And don't try and convince me bily or and Royston would be good back ups. Not long term anyway. And don't get me started on midfield and attack. Ah, stuff this I'm off to the fume thread...

Team id love for rest of season minus injury

Howard
Coleman Heitnga Alex Baines
Fellaini Rodwell
Drenthe Barkley Donovan (to be replaced by pieenar when loan ends)
Vaz Te or Maynard

I don't know why we do it to ourselves.

We all think we're going to sign top players, spend money and shoot up the table in a blue blaze of glory.

But in reality we're not signins s****e all. We might get one or two more loans in, but probably not (Donovan's our last signing in January). And no money will be spent. With the usual s****ehak excuse from the board.

I wouldn't mind signing Onhuo for 2.5M young can RB and CB. Can challenge for RB and CB and Distin isn't gonna last forever.
I think we need pienaar back loan or 3M ish.
Then a striker. I like the look of the young inter lad. Loan with view to perm deal. Or cheap up to 5M.
These are deals a club are size with players sold we should really be able to do. It's a crying shame!

Howard
Coleman jags Distin Baines
Rodwell Fellani
Donovan pienaar drenthe
Castaignos

Once Donovan goes I would stick pienaar on the wing and use ossie/ Barkley in the center.

I'm gonna get slaughtered for this but , Robbie Keane along with a permanent striker on a two-month deal would of offered us another dimension, sort of like having a fast effective McFadden, looks like he's off to Villa now though and I don't know whether Galaxy would loan us Keane as well as Donovan

You not think with Onuoha is good enough?? Always thought he's looked. Specially for Sunderland, I may be wrong mind. What does it matter he's only just been linked? He still looks like he could be **** hot and in our loan/cheap ish fee bracket. Pienaar... We ain't in a possistion to hold grudges against a player who IMO worked his ass off until the day he left. He wanted more ie CL and thought the grass was Greener as well as richer but he ain't no lescott tbf

I see all this talk of Pienaar...and not a word of it is true. I dont even want him, he is a fast player with a good battery and he .... he um... well sometimes his crosses are ok.

looking at the stats from his previous years its not like he was a scoring or assist machine.
**if the arguement is "he better than what we got" i will conceded that point, but lord, Peinaar is not THAT good.

he isn't even quick ... creative as hell though and an excellent partnership with Baines. would take back straight away. for the suggestions of castaignos we wont get. hes worth far more than we can offer.
