Completely agree Dave. He might make a forward pass or two, which would be nice. Anyone noticed how we only ever pass sideways then hope one of the fullbacks puts it on a strikers head? Would be nice to play for a change.

Mate you've never watched Gibson in your life or you don't understand the game, one or the other , forward pass ??? Gibson forward pass??? Why have they just brought a 35 year old out of retirement for his forward passing if they have Gibson, Darren Fletcher who has a serous stomach illness plays before him and even he doesn't make forward passes , wake up lar FFS

Sounds better than Bily, Nev and Cahill still though. Just allow me to be even marginally excited that we wont have someone totally gash in centre mid.

Sorry mate, but he is terrible. He's squad filler. He'd be squad filler at Swansea as well. Championship standard.

We're going to sign one of the few midfielders in the Premier League who makes the Heitinga/Neville partnership seem decent.

He's as rigid as a spoon. It's like he's magnetically attracted to the halfway line.

I can't understand bringing him in but not giving Barkley game time, it makes no sense to me at all...

Mate 8 weeks after he signs I bet you say to me on here your right he's no better than what we have , complete waste of a signing mate I promise

Tubey's spot on.

You're all trying to polish a turd.

He may be marginally better than Heitinga or better than Neville, but those aren't first choice CMs for us. They're only playing because of injuries.

The frustration of this is only made worse when you consider we've got someone 1000x the player sitting in the reserves.

He can sit on the bench just as well as Neville and Heitinga, and much cheaper. Some of our squad filler right now is pretty freaking expensive.

Alright then lads, I'll conceed that you've probably seen him a lot more than me, and that he probably is gash.

I almost got excited about a new signing for a moment there, hope we don't waste what little cash we have on him then.

Speaking of Swansea though, would take Joe Allen in a heartbeat.

For the record I'm not just ****ging him off from what I've seen of him in a United shirt. I watch all of Ireland's games too as that's who I follow internationally, and he just hasn't shone at all in what is a piss poor midfield.
