Anthony Gordon missed training for a second day with Everton chiefs unsure of the winger’s whereabouts, according to iNews journalist Mark Douglas. Writing for iNews (25 January), Douglas reports that Gordon is “pushing hard” for a move to Newcastle, and his absence on Wednesday was not with Everton’s blessing.

Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Everton’s Amadou Onana. According to The Times, the Blue are ramping up interest in the 21-year-old Everton player this month. The report says that Chelsea sense an opportunity to sign Onana because Everton need to raise cash due to Financial Fair Play issues.

Everton are in need of reinforcements in their team as the side struggles in another relegation scrap at the bottom of the Premier League table and now a reliable source has revealed a new potential transfer target. According to the Daily Mail’s chief football reporter Sami Mokbel, Everton are showing interest in a loan deal for Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech.

One player who has been recently linked with a move to the blue side of Merseyside is Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom, a player who is currently in fine form in front of goal in the Championship. Over 21 league appearances, the 27-year-old machine has scored 13 goals, registered one assist and successfully completed 46% of his dribbles, as well as averaging 2.7 shots on goal, 1.2 shots on target and winning 4.8 duels per game.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes Everton will attract the eye of American investors. Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has refuted reports that the Toffees are up for sale.

However, Moshiri has admitted he's looking for additional capital, with Everton posting losses of £372 million over the past three years. The British/ Iranian businessman wants help with costs towards things such as the building of the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

Sean Dyche has “re-emerged as the favourite” to be the next Everton manager amid doubts surrounding Marcelo Bielsa’s interest in the job, according to The Mirror.

The Independent reported (24 January) that Marcelo Bielsa had been approached by the Toffees as they look to replace Frank Lampard in the Goodison Park dugout.

Former Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur coach Nuno Espírito Santo has played down reports that he could return to the Premier League after Everton sacked Frank Lampard on Monday afternoon, speaking to Arabic Sport.

According to The Times, Duncan Ferguson is set to take the Forest Green Rovers job. This comes after he was linked to the manager’s position at Everton, where he has been the caretaker, to relative success, on a number of occasions.

TalkSPORT presenter Jim White and Danny Murphy clashed live on air over the latest update regarding Marcelo Bielsa becoming Everton’s new manager.

And speaking live on air for talkSPORT [25 January], White and Murphy got into a squabble regarding Bielsa’s suitability for the role.

White said: “I mean, Bielsa would go to crazy crazy measures, crazy limits to win a game, crazy.”

Murphy replied: “What do you mean? You can’t do so much as a manager.”

White then went on to state: Yeah, but Danny we heard so much when he was at Leeds, all sorts of different procedures he was introducing, the discipline was incredible if they didn’t get it right the first time, they did it again and again and again.

Murphy replied: “He took time to implement his style, he takes time. Can’t do it. If you got a longer project and you think you know what doesn’t matter what happens we go down, we trust you to get back up, we need this place changed, you become the master, you build.

“That’s not what they need, they need to stay in the division.”

You've done more work there Bob than the Everton board have this week.

For that reason alone, I'm putting you in charge.

We will sell Gordon and Onana last day of the window then go with what we have. Seriously tho. I was hoping this window would save Everton. We need a lift we need some new attacking players. We also could have done with them before the Southampton and West ham games. At least we don’t play again till after the window shuts but I am very worried.

The whole Onana thing is pure paper talk. Chelsea would have to pay double, if not more, in January as we only signed him in the summer. Or wait till the end of the season and get him at a lower price if we get relegated.

Utter nonsense.

Boards fault for being passive.
