Asking to leave and submitting it in writing are completely different. One is a plea to uncle Bill the other is waiving the right to any financial recompense when sold. They both might be right.
Correct. If he hands in a transfer request he waves goodbye to fees that would have potentially been coming his way. He had asked to leave prior to the West Ham game, hence why he didn’t play. The club knew he wanted to leave, it’s no secret. He has also missed a couple of training sessions and has failed to show up today as per Vinny O’Connor who is outside FF. In my opinion, it’s probably best to just cash in for all parties if Newcastle for example offer an acceptable deal.

Why do the club then not tell the player we will sell him, but only if he makes it formal.

It's blatantly obvious he wants to leave, so it's poor form from the player to then not make it formal. It's a bit farcical really.

The missing training thing looks like he is being given poor advice by someone.

Given the timing of this and no one signing so far in this window, don’t you suspect this is a little too convenient given he’s likely only a small number of players we can receive a substantial fee for ?

I’m not defending Gordon, far from it, we have form for this sort of thing going back years tho.

ziyech doesn’t rely on pace and has genuine world class ability

I remember all the same complaints before James rodrgiuez was brought in

Ziyech is one hell of a player and we would be very lucky to bring him in…

If we take £50m for Gordon i would like to think Kudus and Ziyech would be our targets… with Richy on loan of course

Mate....he looked great in Holland. Not suited to the premier league.

Whats the status at the moment?

£25mil rising to £40mil with add ons and £35mil rising to £50mil with add ons have both been mentioned from the Newcastle media...

Anything close to the latter and we surely just have to accept and move on. But I fear this little strike of Gordon’s is an attempt to get us to accept a lowball.

Can I ask and I don’t know if you’ll know, is this move been genrated after what happened to him after the Southampton game with fans? As there was no talk of a move prior to that game and was set to sign a new contract apparently in December, and now he can’t wait to get out the door?

If that has caused him to want to move then he needs to get thicker skin and grow up a bit.
