Genuinely terrible reason to sign someone. This was the reason we signed Townsend. It didn’t happen once and likely never will.I think the sole reason McNeil was brought in was to put the ball on the plate for Dom to eat up ( not to be a a Richy replacement ). As well as being young with his career still in front of him, the lad also has a pretty sweet left peg on him. which as has already been mentioned we've already seen the benefits that can bring....
What we haven't seen is a nice run of games with a fit Dom on the pitch, So how can he feed the lad...
( Unless he puts it on the treatment table )
We do if Dominic Calvert-Lewin is either not playing or performing.

Agree we need a spark we don't make enough chances currently for whoever the forward is but yes we need another of those too. Definitely a loan for a playmaker not sure who, I did think Pulisic would be great for us, but he is probably beyond our grasp given our league position. I like Ziyech but hasn't done much in this league. We need to be creative but realistic, the side needs a bad dose of creative variance in my opinion, while another striker is welcome I’m not sure that’s the root problem, its creating chances for me and how predictable we are.
We need to be pragmatic, would someone like ziyech be impossible on loan, Matheus Pereria on loan with an option, would someone like Smith Rowe be possible. Not saying those players would be available but we should be investigating those types.
The Jan market is sometimes looking for a clever deal with a player in difficult circumstances who might offer you something or who the PL may be appealing, like we did Arteta, Donavon etc in the past.
No we don't, the manager himself has said multiple times now he wants to change the style of play. We have to move on from this mentality of launching balls up to a big man up top to hold the ball up, it's yard dog ball and it's predictable as hell and it's easy to play against for other teams. We need a forward/striker who can make a chance off their own back, slightly more of a rounded player than what Dom is. Most of all we need to stop putting Dom as the no1, he needs to be treated as a squad player at the moment, put him to one side and let him do his thing and come back in his own time.We do if Dominic Calvert-Lewin is either not playing or performing.

They all have something that we don't though - a functioning board. When you look at the three club underneath us mate all three are taking decisive action to try change their circumstances, two have new managers and Forrest already doing deals.
I fear we have to plan for him not being available what was the last run of games he had probably the start of last season even then he broke down ? I fear his body means he's going to end up as a Big Dunc bit part player I hope I'm wrongWe’re in big trouble if he breaks down again after 6 weeks to get himself right.
Realistically we’re looking to him to replace Richarlison goals and give us initiative.
In all honesty he was the difference between a home draw with Palace or beating them well. He’s that important to us.
Yes I think Lamps wants us to play more attacking and pressing but we don't have the personnel and it creates big gaps in the team as the midfield is emptied as Iwobi and Onana press and the defence sits deep due to a lack of pace. I think it might be time to go back to basics until we get some creativity, sit deep especially in away games and hit on the break. At home we need to be more attacking but you can still be compact as we saw in the run in last season. The onus on Iwobi to create something is way too heavy we need creativity that will unlock the goals for me. We need Gordon to step up and we need a playmaker on loan as well as another forward. The last 5 odd games has proven we don’t have enough, teams know we struggle for goals so sit back, suck the life out of us nick one and you beat Everton.
It’s easy, we’re to telegraphed and you’d look forward to playing us, k e if the easiest clubs in the league to work out how to play against.
Remember Mykolenko was the only one we signed before / close after Jan 1st that anyone on GOT can recall lol.I, for one, am excited to see the plethora of signings we reveal on 1 January 2023.
Agree mate those behind the scenes do far more homework. Which is of course how we've ended up with such hidden gems like Maupay and McNeil. Thank goodness they are so thorough compared to lowly fans....and who are posters to judge the work that those people are putting in behind the scenes, Eggs? They've obviously done far more homework on this than @EFC_FRANCIS has done so his '0 goals in 18 games' retort is a more than a bit disingenuous really..
McNeil was signed to show how incompetent the combination of lampard and thelwell are.Genuinely terrible reason to sign someone. This was the reason we signed Townsend. It didn’t happen once and likely never will.
