January Transfer Window 2023

Last year this basket case club managed to get 5 January arrivals thorough the door, despite the fact there was no manager or DoF in situ for virtually the entire month. Yes those signings were largely haphazard dross, but still...

In what parallel universe are we not able to get signings over the line after selling a youth player for £40m pure FFP profit?!

We have somehow failed two managers this window, quite staggering when you think about it.

I swear, at a minimum we need to secure 2 loans if we’re not buying anyone. We drastically need a winger and striker. Drastically.

I just cant believe they sold Gordon with actually nothing lined up.

That is unforgivable.
Gordon never wanted to play for us again and we had a team willing to pay comfortably double what he's worth if not more. Absolute no brainer to flog. As for nothing being lined up, this whole window has been a comedy of errors indicating that the board want us to look in any direction other than that in which we can see they have zero intention of signing anyone for actual money.

We withheld appointing Dyche for a good couple of days to eat away most of what was left of the window, then we put in the good ol' doomed-to-fail bid for Gallagher to "prove" we have cash to spend. Now we'll finish on the reliable, old "we couldn't get quite the deals over the line" manoeuvre.

I don't know if our accounts are more of a mess than anyone knows, or whether we're legitimately skint (would be my guess, given Moshiri openly courting investors), but there's defo more to this than meets the eye.

I've said it a million times already, but we need to accept relegation. With Dyche at least we may bloody a few noses on the way down, but that's pretty much the best we can hope for.

I trust in the club’s tried and tested transfer strategy of trying to persuade any old carthorse to join us on transfer deadline day when clubs know we are desperate.

It’s worked well for us in the past. I don’t see why everyone is complaining.

I think it is safe to say we probably tried, the point would have been to have bought early on before we become the black sheep...but we didn't have the funds to do so at that point.

Too many people look at this and think why didn't Everton do this or that, but it's not like going and picking up a pint of milk from the shop. The players have a choice too and why if they are available for sale would they go straight to Everton on say the 20th of Jan when they can wait and in those 11 days someone else better might come in for them. As said to avoid that you would have to over pay - why are we in this mess? Because we over paid...
I think we'd struggle to complete a purchase of a pint of milk personally!

I'm wondering whether the numb nuts in our Boardroom, with all their claims of security threats and headlocks, have put a lot of players off

It no doubt has. They could have just not turned up without publicising fictitious nonsense about our CEO being physically attacked. They obviously thought that press release was a good idea at the time, but it couldn’t have been more stupid in reality.

They listen to whatever their agent tells them. At the end of the day mate, numerous players are turning us down this window, why?

Because we've been slow and inactive. Slow in backing or sacking the manager, and not getting in targets.

Regardless of management...the DoF should still sign players. Brighton and Wolves do this.

Our inactivity has caused the shortlists to get shorter, the laboured approach to it has caused players/agents to make decisions.

These targets have been available before the window even opened. Yet we sit on deadline day and are surprised we're getting gazumped.

No decent player wants to sign for Dyche.

A couple hard working championship Brexit lads from Yorkshire is the best we'll get in.

At least Carlo's son would have got us half the Madrid team on loan even if we can't afford to keep the Canteen open long enough to attract Hazard their deadwood would be our best players.
Whereas They’re queuing up to play for league one runner up and 3 time league two manager of the month Nathan Jones . Are we thinking sulemana watched a lot of Jones when he was playing at Southend ?
