We got some good results with ancellotti before it fell off a cliff. Have to say though, the football under him was some of the worst I’ve seen. Really boring stuff
But that first couple of months of that season was some of the best football I’ve ever seen us play.

I don’t blame him for turning to pragmatism when the injuries started accumulating and our lack of depth became glaringly obvious

That’s not at all the consensus from the United fans I know.
It’s the consensus on United Stand the biggest YouTube channel for united fans. They’ve spoken about him loads, not ready, not close. Fleeting moments of promise and potential, they’ve suggested he needs a loan to the championship - sounds a bit like Gordon and Gray.

All that said he couldn’t be much worse than Gray but not sure we can use that as a yardstick for signings.

Looking about on social media they can't wait to offload him it seems.

Wonder would they have said the same of Andreas Pereira whose having a very good season at Fulham.

Ive seen Elanga a bit, he’s a real trier, direct, pace, he can break a line, but a bit headless after doing it, technically he has a heavy touch and relies on pace to compensate - like so many of our players. Not convinced he has the sufficient injection of quality required to make the impact we are likely to need, but open minded.

Tbf with him he has had to go on loan a couple of times to sort himself out but looks ok now.

It feels more like another Garner deal where we're bringing in potential (building the squad), although to be fair Elanga has played more first team football.

Still, I have an inkling that this is more speculation than a reliable piece of news because Frank has talked about bringing players who will make an impact.

Even the most positive of people will doubt if he'd bring that. How many goals has he scored for United? Something like three. We could be interested hin him.

However, we'll hopefully be looking at a striker who will get us those much-needed goals.

He is clearly not Championship level, that’s absolutely ridiculous.

This elanga just a rumour that the athletic are reporting or saying a deal is close?
He’s probably on the list,
Like he was in the summer, personally I will be surprised if we want him in January, maybe next summer? we need players ready to play, not unknown youngsters

It’s a tough one mate, you’re looking at young ones who are surplus at big clubs, or experienced ones at other clubs. Elangas Vs El Ghazi’s. She’s a tricky limited market that can blow up in your face, like last season with ElGhazi, Dele, VDB - we got minimal value overall for a decent out lay, Jan window is tough, loads of clubs shopping in a limited market. Never like it but know we need it. We’re in a tough position, because we badly need to replace Richarlison threat, innitive and goals. Think many underatted all he brought.

I could handle Elanga as a hit and hope if we brought a decent playmaker, think that would change the dynamic, but it’s line breaking and creativity we need as a priority in my opinion.
