They have money? Not sure why our fans look at them as en example, they’re operating in a different stratosphere to us.
But they are also an extremely well run Club! The shagite and the spuds are the clubs whose business operations we should aspire to.

Need someone in early to be a part of the squad for the Brighton game that's how desperate we are (won't happen like) so we get to enjoy Gordon, Mcneil, Gray and Maupay again!

Chronic and endemic mismanagement from the top down
Look at Geordies. Got lots of money. Not really spunked it like we did and they got in a manager/coach who has improved the players they already had. Now with a platform they can go and enhance that squad to ensure a top 4 finish. It does appear from the outside their owners have a business plan and it looks to be working. Our business model is non existent.

Didn’t they overhaul the board and got proper football People in. Moshiri’s biggest mistake was not doing the same, instead he’s kept the same clueless idiots in place

In the summer we brought in two good central defenders and two good central midfielders, both positions we really needed to improve on.
That is a positive.

We also brought in two forwards that were both poor options. That is a negative

Until yesterday, only the top 3 had conceded less goals than us. That is a really big positive. We should not dismiss how big a positive that is.

Only two teams have scored less than us which is a huge negative. We should also not dismiss how big a negative that is.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting fit, and a good centre forward coming in January (if we can get one) should see us climb quite a few spots and give us a base to build on next season.

I'm nowhere near as nihilistic as most on here appear to be, but before anyone tries to - please don't mistake my lack of doom as me thinking everything is perfect
If this were to happen, I think we'd be comfortable come the end of the season, which is what I've said regularly, as our defence and midfield has improved.

My worry however is that I'd say it's not particularly likely that Dom will stay fit nor will we sign a regular scorer up front, which means it's a risky situation.

We cannot rely on a striker who has missed more games than he's played in the last calendar year, and purchasing a reliable finisher is very, very difficult.

If everyone could sign their 10-15 goal a season striker (let alone a 20+), things would be much easier. Do we have the money? Do we have the kudos?

Maupay doesn't look like the signing we wished, yet as I've said previously I feel the way we're deploying him is criminal.

Yeah I think so. Got people in like Dan Ashworth to oversee the whole lot. Not saying they're the panacea of what a club should be, far from it, but since we had money we've somehow regressed. Liked us much better as plucky little skint Everton. Now we're just skint and rudderless Everton. Woeful.

No mate, Ajax have Kudus.

One of our biggest problems as a former big club is a sense of pride holds us back. If we were just to accept our place in the natural order and put a smart structure/strategy in place we could actually do quite well and potentially win the odd cup competition.

Take the Gordon situation. Brighton would have taken the money on the table and invested in 1 or possibly 2 better players. However, for us we still have that pride. ‘Gordon is one of our own’ and we hold onto him for another year or two.

I think it’s a bit of a myth that our central midfield has been good.

Strange how Everton fans are comparing us to RS completely forgetting the huge amounts of money we spunked on tat, 5 managers and overpriced wages.

Sadly our board need to address the manager situation before dishing out millions on players
