I am aware that we have not got the money to bring in a top striker, so, I think it would be better if we just tried to identify a big, quick, physical striker, who has the ability to hold the ball up and link play. We really need another option to get out of our own half rather than either hoofing the ball towards a midget like Maupay, or trying our trusted endless sideways passes in the hope of boring our opponents to death.

If he is not the most lethal finisher in the world so be it, we won't get that on our budget, but, we desperately need somebody we can go long to, when needed, who will not just let the ball bounce off him and end up right back in our area.
 
A sticky target man would improve us hugely, I think. Even without goals, getting the ball up front and holding it long enough for numbers to join the attack would benefit the team massively.

It’s one of DCL’s big attributes that seems to go mostly unnoticed, for some reason, and we’re missing that every bit as much as his goals.

You have pretty much described Ellis Simms, who I’m in no doubt isn’t ready to play consistently in the premier league but who is also far more suited to the role Maupey is being asked to do.
 
Think we’ll end up going for Brereton Diaz and that lad from Coventry, £20m ish should do both, then probably going back in for Kudus or something like that. Desperately need a winger too though unless we played Brereton Diaz out wide.

Even watching Traore come off the bench for them yesterday and despite not being very good you could tell he terrified Mykolenko. Should be getting a minimum of 4 in, 2 loans is a must.

Although I think Gyokeres is decent we cant be placing our PL status on a Championship striker who has less PL experience than Tom Cannon and operating at the same level as Ellis Simms...
 
One of the biggest obstacles we have in this transfer window is other clubs intentions. It would appear at least 8 Premier League clubs are looking to sign a striker this January. It could become difficult task.

I’d like to see us sign Gyokeres and Ben Brereton Díaz, think that gives us different options, maybe even going into 2 up top which Everton never seem to play. We have to expect at least one striker considering they let big Rondon leave
