Exactly. He isn’t going to be chasing for trophies here any time soon, so a player of his calibre and prestige may feel he could play somewhere else.

If he wants to go, I wouldn’t blame him; as long as he doesn’t force a move and we lose out financially, wish him well and invest the cash.

I believe we said that when we sold Lukaku, Richarlison, Digne, got James and Siggi off the wage bill etc.

We’ll no doubt go for Fulham’s back up keeper and then sign a midfielder from Norwich, a winger from Nottingham Forrest in stages payments…

Oh, it'd all depend on what is offered. I mean, if somebody offered 50m today, you would have to ask yourself if that kind of money would ever be offered for that player again.

You're right. Probably not much more than 50m for the pair last summer, and that's achievable by selling Gordon and not buying Maupay. I try hard to not judge tricky decisions with hindsight but that doesn't seem a tricky decision to me.

He's decent on the ball plays forward and has a shot on him also he has room to develop not sure how you can know whether he can "hack" it, from his fleeting appearance so far? I also think his injury was unfortunate as he would have forced his way in. But I am not saying I would have prioritised him over a forward though as I say no point buying squad players for that much when you have nothing going forward.

If you can’t get into this Everton side, you aren’t very good. All the attributes that you claim he has come from his performances for other clubs in different leagues. He hasn’t shown any of that in the premier league.

We have to be wary about selling any important first team player due to our complete and utter ineptitude at reinvesting money sensibly.

Our recruitment somehow managed to get worse since Thelwell and Lampard took over. That's almost impossible

Personally, I’m going to have to hold onto my blind faith in Thelwell for fear of contemplating what happens if he blows the January window.

Make the right decision and then try to get it right later. Can't make the wrong choice to start because you might mess up later.

If we sell Pickford then sign a crap goalkeeper and dont reinvest the rest in a good forward then we've weakened the squad. If we weaken this squad even slightly then say goodbye to top flight football

We can't become a selling club until we have a recruitment team with some level of competence
