January Transfer Window 2023

Recalling him makes perfect sense. Who is going to sell a top striker in the Jan window anyway? IF we can keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit we dont need a big signing up front. It's a playmaker we need.
DCL is not going to stay fit for half a season, be lucky to get 10 games out of him, if that... This is the reason we are here now because they were banking on his fitness...

Does it need to be a top striker just better than what we have (No-one), plenty of decent ones in Germany, France, Portugal etc, they are the cheaper markets.

For me I don`t know why hasn`t used Maupay in the 10 this season, think he would be more suited to that than the number 9.

You're quoting Toffee TV as a source of legit transfer information??

No I was passing on what was said I also said it could be nonsense but you laugh away pal

When being played correctly at Brighton he was hitting double figures for goals and assists 3 seasons in a row. You don't suddenly lose that at the age of 26. He's not the problem, not by a long shot. He's the type of player we're crying out for at the minute, we just aren't playing to his strengths.
Saw a heat map of him during the Wolves game and most of his work was outside the box I think he would be better played off a target man

Thats an enormous if and not realistic at all. Pinning all our hopes on Dominic Calvert-Lewin is why we can't score goals
We haven't had him to pin hopes on. Spending big money now doesn't make sense. Richarlison is the one we need to replace. We were never going to win the league this season, never going to make Europe, Mid table was always going to be the target. People set too much high hopes to quickly that's why they get dissapointed. The world isn't going to end after this season, we build and go again. We don't go from a relegation battle team to world beaters in one season. It takes time.

Recalling Simms at this early stage (with the transfer window about to open) suggests absolute desperation. I don’t have an issue with him being recalled because he adds to our attacking options (possibly not by much and as long as others come in) but I would have gone about my loan or transfer business first. This may force us to the lower leagues / European market as we have just inflated any potential loan fees from the PL teams. All the newspaper articles today confirming story describe the action as desperate. There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of succession planning or forward planning in the club. Not sure that Ellis makes the difference now which is what FL said he wanted.
Seems to be a lot panicking over the Simms recall. It seems logical to me as he effectively replaces Rondon in the squad and allows Cannon to go on loan.

They are probably looking at Gyokeres being touted at 20 million and seeing that we have a guy scoring goals in the same league at a similar rate, and we can get him back for free instead. Or, if Gyokeres is the guy we want, we can use Simms as part of that deal and offer Coventry an oven ready replacement.

Simms can’t be the limit of the business but he buys us time and options. It’s sensible to recall.
