The latter I can forgive them for in the sense that I really think Lampard thought he could get the team playing how he wants them to, maybe naively, when it comes to getting the ball on the deck around the box and that would suit Maupay's strengths. But he hasn't been able to do it, for a variety of reasons.

McNeil there's no real excuse for, from anyone involved, and they were both involved in that signing.

I'm surprised maupay has such an influence over our signings
 
I’ve said it before and il say it again, our scouting system needs to be seriously changed. Instead of changing multi million pound players year after year go and get some proper scouts! That’s one of the reasons why we’re in a right mess, There’s thousands of footballers across the globe and we seem to only have a scouting network that operates inside the PL.

We needed a winger with pace and goals or at least can do either and we sign McNeil who provides neither. I mean what have our scouts seen in his performances/stats to say ‘that’s what we need’

We buy high sell low or they walk away on a free (Recipe for disaster)

What’s unbelievable is Thelwell has sent his scouts out to find us a winger and that scout or scouts have came up with the answer Dwight McNeil, sorry but they/he should of been fired the moment he put the name on his desk.

We have been linked with quite a few young players from Europe. The worry for me is that they don’t make the impact we want in half a season. They may be rifght for the long term, but not half a season when we need them battle ready and scoring.

Now if it was say 30m with some not so realistic clauses to get to 60m that is different obviously and I'm not privy to all the details. But we're talking about a player who is just simply not worth any of the figures that are being thrown about and to be stubborn and not get a deal done is bad management of your assets.

Is have done the deal if the total based on realistic targets was £40 million with a modest additional amount based on unrealistic targets such as England caps and Chelsea winning the Premier or Champions League

If he wasn’t English he wouldn’t of moved for that sum of money. He was very good in the championship last year but no better than what Ndiaye is doing this year for sheff utd. Could probably get Ndiaye for half the price and he’s got World Cup experience.

I deffo agree with your second paragraph. I think also Wolves didn't really want to sell him so they hiked the price. Personally I think he's got more potential than bottom half of the PL though
