January Transfer Window 2023

Why are we still handling transfer window in the same usual way,we will see God knows how many players that we are interested in signing but none of them sign and probably as usual we will sign some no hoper at the end of the window that will sit on the bench for the rest of the season and come the Summer we will want out so e can go and get another no hoper.

I genuinely think no players are coming in because the board will wait until the next three league games are done, after which they'll decide whether or not to keep Lampard.

After the third fixture we go into a 10-day period before the window ends, and they probably naively think that's enough time to start and close out a managerial search, as well as allow the new guy to determine whether he requires additional players, scout them, approach clubs, agree deals, have them fly over for a medical and sign contracts.

We have three winnable games on the horizon and it would be a travesty to pick up fewer than 6 points from them.

For me, Lampard ought to go tonight if we don't beat Brighton, but you can bet that won't happen. We're quickly running out of on-paper winnable home games, and this will push us into needing go to away and turn Expected Defeats into victories, and that just won't happen.
With our board they'll probably leave a decision on FL until the last moment, fire him, scramble around trying to entice a name manager, then appoint Big Dunc the day before the transfer window closes. Big Dunc then persuades Lee Trundle out of retirement and then goes down in the history books as the manager who got us relegated. Or they could surprise us and actually have a plan.

I certainly don’t think he’s the answer but I think he’s big , strong and looks to have at least a bit of pace , in short a handful. so late on in games gives us an out ball and an option .

We can expect Dominic Calvert-Lewin to make it through the season without injury so even if we bring one in , what harm does having Simms there do ? I personally wouldn’t have loaned him when we had no cover , do I think he’s the answer absolutely not but the More options the better for me.

I think you will be very surprised about how little he actually uses these quality's.

Anichebe was big & strong

It's only 3rd of Jan!

New year hangover, then bank holiday. It's not like other teams have been signing players.

….it’s not like many other teams desperately need attacking power and it’s not like many other teams are looking like they will be centrally involved in a relegation fight.

The club should’ve been looking to address the situation immediately. More potency should’ve been lined up before the window opened, as well as an effective alternative option for DCL.

Lets not forget, we were a month into this season without a central striker. DCL injured, Simms was sent on loan & Rondon deemed not good enough to play. We then brought in the inadequate Maupay.

The transfer strategy is worst than incompetent, it’s gross negligence.

He will be off to Newcastle

Sure I read somewhere that Ronaldo will be loaned to Newcastle if they qualify for CL next season.

That's what comes of being State owned I guess as the Saudi sports minister has also pledged to buy their clubs other marque players (which will end up in Geordieland too no doubt)

Would you not say Iwobi has been generally excellent for us for most of this season?

He's only got 1 goal...
I think he's done the very basic of what's expected of him which was to increase his work rate from the appalling two seasons following his transfer.

His productivity is still abysmal though, and to me that's just because he doesn't possess the quality for this level. No surprise, and no criticism of him - it is what it is, and he doesn't pick himself.

Read that too but if I was Eddie Howe I wouldn't touch Ronaldo with broom handle.

He has done a marvellous job there and built a team with great spirit.

Think they will continue to bring in astute signings who will make a long term contribution.
