We have to remember this situation when it comes to business with these clubs in the future. We should flat out reject anything in the future from Spurs. He is but at the same time if you told me every player that we buy we'd sell 6 months later for a massive profit then I'd take it. I think if we get around £40m for Gordon and around £50m-£60m for Onana then we'd have to take them, would enable us to properly reset. I know it could backfire but honestly I look at it this way, we either sell both now for £100m+ or else we go down in a few months and they both go for probably half that, if that at all.

This. Facts are we have very little pathway to funds, and the drop would slice any returns by half. That could damn us into the championship for more than a year. Sorry but this is how we have to think. You manage window after window poorly and these become your options for longterm stability.

Problem is we have a week to change the squad - and we have no manager.

I don't think a manager should matter to what players we sign. I think Thelwell should be working overtime at the minute, structuring deals and basically getting everything done down to the penny on bringing in players immediately if funds become available. We should absolutely not be waiting around twiddling our thumbs to see IF we can sell players.

I could understand selling players to give the manager money to buy, but we don't have a manager and we are further limiting the options open to whoever we appoint because the window closes in seven days and it isn't as if there is a queue to join us anyway.
