Pienaar for Geri in that side.
Think he used to play Naismith/Osman out wide more than both

The only game I can remember him going with Mirallas and Deulofeu was that fateful Palace at Goodison that handed the initiative back to Arsenal

Simply we thought both Baines and Coleman were immortal, we are still looking towards Seamus now when he should have been sent to do his badges and work with the youth team years ago, sums up our total lack of a recruitment strategy.

Yeah Coleman should of been replaced 3 or 4 years ago, he can come in and do a job for a game or two but no way he should be starting regular.
As you say this is through lack of strategy from the club.

This Moshiri era is almost over thankfully

This is why although ive always been a fan + posted i wanted him signed from Sunderland all those years ago...

...we should take a big fee for Pickford.

Otherwise in a few years we need to replace him with zero budget.

Any Aussies heard a whisper about James Overy?

Apparently was on trial at West Ham (who want him) Leicester are interested and has been training with us.

Only 16 i think but was soon to make his debut in Australian league...

@Paul Rideout just following on from your post about Branthwaite in his thread.

I find it quite interesting to wish / dream for him and Onana especially to remain with us long term. As they develop to the levels i predict they will, the team gets pulled up the league with them.

But, for arguments sake if the worst happened and we sold one or both of them then we need to (obviously) hold out for the enormous fees ive been talking about.

We all know this but doesnt hurt repeating:

In defence we have Myko-Branthwaite-Tarkowski-Patterson the rest will be gone in less than 2 years.

So we need 4 more defenders now and 5 if Branthwaite was sold.

In midfield its similar with McNeil--Onana--Garner--Dobbin with the rest loans or out of contract soon. Even advanced with Doucoure, we dont have another attacking central player.

Even if Mills comes into the squad we would still require 4 players and 5 if Onana was to be sold.

So, 4 defenders needed short term and also the same in midfield = 8 players.

If Branthwaite and Onana leave it becomes 10 players.

Like i said, i want to see them develop, grow, dominate and drag the team up the table for 5 years+. But if both were to be sold, who knows if the fees allow us to be even better with the large number of players we need.

I think if we sell them it will be because we have to sell them, either because they want to go or because we need the money to keep the lights on (bit dramatic but you get the sentiment).

I would guess Onana is the easier to replace (just from a cursory glance around leagues/gut feeling), and I do think if he is consistent for the rest of the season £90m+ is not pie in the sky. I cannot believe I'm going to say this, but I think Thelwell has been pretty good with his transfer targets: good mix of youth, short term/free experienced players & hungry senior pros on perms/loans. Danjuma was at present (IMO) the worst deal we did this window gone, and he was worth the loan gamble... Young I don't think was meant to play this much.

I also think Onana will be the more likely to want to leave, and honestly I'd prefer that to him getting an inflated wage/sign on only for him to move next season.

There is a lot of work to do in one winter and one summer window, and I doubt we can afford to do all of it.

We badly need a CB cover preferably left-footed who can do a job in LWB. Many good LBs out there for reasonable prices I hope (Ito, Netz, Bello, etc)

Gnonto linked by teamtalk...where many pound coins were spent in years gone by.

Roma + Lazio interested as well as us, £25mil price tag.

I think both are very hard to replace. Onana and Branthwaite both have 'the lot' in their respective positions and we saw last game how well they combine together.

The hope for me is that we can get some fees in for the backup players and have the Iwobi/Gray unexpected funds.

Full backs dont need to be expensive nor back up centre back. Same for backup CM.

But we need a rotation player at CB + CM at the very least which would enable us to sell 4 backup players. Those 2 have to be high potential and future replacements of Branthwaite and Onana if and when.

I dont think we need all 3 forward players and Pickford being 30 in March should be cashed in on really before his value disappears...people may argue but how to replace him without funds?

Id rather a LCB/LB + RCB/RB than anyone playing wing back.

Who are those you mention?
