If everything turned out OK he would be the long term replacement for Tarkowski who is now 31.
IMO I think it is insane not to sign a good quality player, especially internally of the 777 group (a benefit of the group) because the current players in situ will be there forever, you have to factor in injuries OR if one is sold or one decides to retire.
I know one thing, that is when one of our 1st choice CBs are out the replacements aren`t very good at all, ideally you want more than 2 CBs capable of playing and creating competition for places. It`s not something as Evertonians we are used to....
