Japan vs England

I think English people who aren't supporting or dont care about the world cup are in the minority, so Im gonna ignore the comparison to Kopites. The England national team is where football supporters come together and unite and forget about the silly squabbling between clubs. Red or Blue, Black or White doesnt matter, everyones in the same boat willing the team to do well. If it can get a West Ham and a Millwall fan being civil for a month then it cant be bad.

Not on Merseyside mate, in fact I'd bet good money that the vast majority aren't supporting England.

This coming together thing? Why does it make them act like uber bells then, and like complete cocks on foreign shores?

Well I got family in Liverpool, and they're all supporting England, red and blue.

And we're not that bad. Yeah I dont condone people who get violent or trash pubs or whatever. But what English football fan doesnt enjoy going around a foreign country in there England shirt shouting ING GER LAND and just having a generally good time. Its not as if fans from other countries dont do the same. Its just coz we're English they get annoyed. And I personally couldn't give a toss. Its wonderful.

I have witnessed the behaviour of England fans supporting matches overseas for many years and they have the highest concentration of bellends of any country, ignorant, aggressive and just generally tits.

The locals generally dislike them a lot, as do the local police.

The other nationalities seems to enjoy the game without any trouble, which I find weird.

When we played Brazil in the QF in 2002, I was looking for a bar to watch the game before work. No shortage of bars in the centre of Alicante so I settled in to watch the first half in one. At half time I decided to search for some fellow countrymen to share the experience. Found a bar in 'the barrio' chock full of England fans. walked up to the door. they were spilling on to the streets, having a drink outside before the 2nd half kicked off. Before I got to the door, I turned round and went to find a bar full of Spaniards, Argentinians, Brazilians. Anything but the shower I came across in that bar. I know they're not all like that but ffs, what an obnoxious bunch they were

I'd like to laugh at England but our defense is so calamatous that I could you winning with a scoreline of 2 OGs to 1.

EFCNIK, would you rather see Everton win the FA Cup or England win the World Cup?

That is such a difficult question mate. But I would probably say overall England win the world cup. I know I'm gonna suffer a backlash for saying it, but if I had to choose that would be my choice. I know people will question my passion for Everton but I'm telling you I love and am as passionate about Everton as much as the rest of you if not more. But for England to win the world cup, after learning about '66, would make my dreams come true.

Seem to have touched a few nerves. I wasn't having a go at people who had a go at the performance today. Of course, I moan about England being [Poor language removed] as much as anyone. But all this anti-England stuff because Steven Gerrard plays for them or JT or whoever is just ridiculous. If you're English get behind the lads.

End of the day, when its a major tournament, and the domestic season is over, Im just as passionate about England as I am about Everton.

Why do England fans get so worked up about people not being patriotic or supporting the 'national' team, when people like me and Chico say we don't support England. I don't get it, why does it bother you so much?

So why in Euro 2000 did a group of Scousers get abused for being Scouse from other England fans? (see Eddy Brimson's 'God Save The Team - Fighting for Survival at Euro 2000') Were was the unity then?

And how come whenever England play at Wembley a section of fans boo the players from northern teams. And how come England fans boo their own players, eg Ashley Cole in the qualifiers.

Mate take your head out the skies, club rivalry always comes first, don't believe all this 'united England fans' malarky.

Brilliantly summed up, for me it's people like Terry and Gerrard in particular ( his dubious extra maritial activity, and gerrard who looks getting into fights in bars ) i can't be proud for them type of people to lead the line? and be so called leaders in the team.

The fact i'm in no way patriotic has no bearing on this, i am very, very proud of the WWI/II heroes mind - and i dont think playing football has much to do with this.

I think i've muddled me point a bit - basically - i can't take players like those i have named seriously.
