Biased support of this lad because he’s Cumbrian but hope we at least give him a chance to show what we can do.
…I suspect there’ll be no holding him back, Matey. Major issue might be if we sign another CB in January, as we know Benitez likes to play his own signings.
I’m of the impression last night was all just forced and by our next fixture, with a couple more injured back, he’ll be superglued to the bench again.
….he has to at least leapfrog Holgate in the reckoning.
Watched him in the U23s a few weeks ago and at that level he reminded me a little of Bobby Moore, showing both those qualities you mention. Obviously that's a much lower level, and with his league experience he's far too good to be playing in it, but at 19 there's lots of potential there. In the absence of Mina he deserves a run in the team.I think this lad should be a starter every week, he looks composed and doesn’t seem to panic, something that can’t be coached. Hopefully FSW will start him now and build the defence around him.
Couldn’t agree more Mick.Watched him in the U23s a few weeks ago and at that level he reminded me a little of Bobby Moore, showing both those qualities you mention. Exactly how I feel about him. Think he has performed well for us in his few appearances and have high hopes for him.Biased support of this lad because he’s Cumbrian but hope we at least give him a chance to show what he can do.
Stevens qualifies. Barrow is in Cumbria even if it has a Lancaster postcode. Funnily, my wife's family who are from the North east is somewhere related to Stevens (as I've heard the story several times, what with me being an everton fan and all).…I suspect there’ll be no holding him back, Matey. Not sure we’ve had many Cumbrians, perhaps Gary Stevens qualifies.

Hopefully he won't be joining the injury list with splinters on his arse.I’m of the impression last night was all just forced and by our next fixture, with a couple more injured back, he’ll be superglued to the bench again.
