Agree with all those saying average at best on Wednesday. He's certainly got the physicality so if we think he's going to make it, might have to live through some poorer performances while he learns his trade. Giving him minutes on the pitch will certainly accelerate his development.

self fulfilling prophecy .. that’s why youngsters should be very cautious to love before they are ready.. end up stalling their development..

Martinez gave Stones those minutes… plenty of them. Jarrad has 4 in front of him. Let Keane go (if possible) and give Jarrad the 4th slot.

Yeah. It's high risk (in theory) by the club but it's a valid strategy if you think the young player will eventually have the ability.

Even if we keep all 5 centre backs he could still get minutes imo. Whenever we play 5 at the back, just ensure he always plays the left sided role. He could even get a few minutes at left back if we're considering loaning out Nkounkou.

We need to make players like this make wights in transfer deals.

That's the position we're in as a club.

It's a pity, but that's where we've ended up through mis-governance.

Nope. Makeweights are the likes of Kenny and Delf, high wages , fringe players who can do a job at the likes of Celtic but not for us. Branthwaite is 19, called into the England u20 squad , has potential , and really it’s about whether Benitez and his team can develop that potential. Even marginal development would double his price in a season .
